VW Beetle tows a 5th Wheel
This is incredible. Look at the 360 turning radius on this thing. There is no reason to ever put the thing in reverse!
There has got to be some sort of reinforcement under that gooseneck.

That's great. It does seem like the roof would crush in if not reinforced.

That's amazing. And it almost looks do-able. Funny thing, though, the web site in the video is identified as rondotrailer.com, but when I go there, I don't find any reference to anything even slightly similar. Anyone else have better luck? Or am I falling for a gag?

cool video
Cute video,
The web site does exist....it brought me to Rondo Truck & Trailer in Sycamore IL.
But the video is ancient.....does anyone have any memory of this commercial playing or ever see this baby?

I don't think it's a gag. Everyone looks like they're dressed in the 70s, and the video is rather rudimentary. Someone would have had to have gone through great lengths, even today, to make it a gag. You can't just photoshop in a 70s haircut and shirt!
Scamp makes a 5th wheel designed to be towed behind 1/2 ton pickups, like the Ford Ranger, and weighs about 2000 lbs.

If you took out a bunch of the modern conveniences and made it spartan, I think you could easily whack 500-1000 lbs off that, making it towable by any vehicle out there.

Maybe it will spark a mfg to make something similar for today's small cars.

The maneuverability would have been helpful trying to back into a campsite we booked at Big Sur a few years ago! It's cute! I wonder what the inside looked like.
