Default Filling fresh water tank w TM closed

I switched out a 1/4" ID elbow for the fresh water tank drain & replaced it with a 1/2" OD elbow threaded on one end & barbed on the other. I then used 1/2" garden hose, double barbed 1/2" elbow, brass ball valve, & female hose ending. Much of this was suggested by Bruce on 08-13-2002. Installing the larger elbow into the tank, however, allowed me to fill it five minutes vs Bruces eight. I also drilled out the drain hole in the floor to 1" & used a small piece of 1" hose over the 1/2" hose as a flange to protect the water line from being cut by the alum. sheeting.

Sounds great! We like to travel with the tank empty and it would be nice to be able to pull into a campground w/o hookups and "fill 'er up" that easily.

Probably a dumb question but since I don't know the answer I need to ask it. I am intereted in doing your closed fill conversion but am not sure which hose is which. I have a 2720SD and right in front of the wheel are 2 drain hoses. The inner most is flexible tubling and the outer rigid. Which one are you using?
Thanks

The flexible, clear plastic one is for the tank, on my TM.

One thing you could do, as I think others who have done this mod have, is redirect the vent hose down through the floor. Thus, water will come out there instead of where it is now, which would spill water all over the inside wall.

I really like this idea. When dry camping at a campground, the time to fill is when I pull into camp.

My question was also, how do you keep the walls from getting wet? I see the vent hose under my bench seat, but I could use some suggestions about how to direct the vent hose through the floor.

Does anyone have pictures of how the ran the vent hose through the floor? What else does one have to do to seal the hose where it comes through the floor?
