Default 30A fuse question

??? The white fuse holder near my battery has a brown spot on it. I was in a hurry so I couldn't check it out. I tried to open it but couldn't. Does it look like I need to replace it? How hard would it be to replace it?

Sounds like it's time to replace it. If you can't get it open and it goes while your TMing, then your forced to make a emergency repait. Much easier to do at home with all the tools right there. I personally would think about a 30 amp set-resetting circuit breaker, given then less than convienent access to the battery and fuse in my TM. The breaker can be found in many auto parts stores.

The brown spot is from overheating (not to be confused with circuit overload) which is common to this OEM fuseholder. Replace it with a 30A blade type holder that you can get from Wally World or your local auto parts store. Take a look at this string for other fuse related info:

This string has a lot of fuse info also:

I would not recommend replacing this fuse with an automatic resetting circuit breaker. This fuse is installed to protect the battery from battery charger malfunctions and/or reverse wiring from the tow vehicle. It needs to blow and stay open until you find the problem. The 12V fuses in the power distribution panel will protect the low voltage circuits from shorts and such.

Thanks all for your comments. I'm going to go with the blade type holder.
