2720 SL Battery storage area
Has anyone reconfigured or come up with a better way to put their battery in the back area they are set up for? Would like to add a second 12v and want to see how others have done it or what they modified to get them both in there. Thanks

Several have done it. Search for posts by Mike Laupp. Also, check out some of his photos that he put in my album

Bill is most likely referring to this thread:

I did the same mod, as I posted there as well, about 9 years ago. It works great!

I was thinking of trying to find a half moon lazy Susan type shelf that was heavy duty enough to hold a battery and swing out.

Check out the solar index thread , Index to owners solar, several include pictures of battery(s) in the rear.

Two GC2s just fit along the street side of the rear compartment.
This shows the compartment with battery covers removed (note vent in wall) and wired for coach, solar, a 1KW inverter, and a trickle charger under the bumper cover.
This leaves room for a 2400W inverter-generator on the right side.

Dual battery Upgrade
Hi everyone. Im brand knew to forums and trailmanor's. I just purchased a 2008 2720sl in original condition, including the battery. I plan on doing quite a bit of cold weather off grid camping. My question: Do i have to make any electrical upgrades when changing from a single 12V battery to a dual 6V? Or is the main issue, holding down a battery box?

For me the two GC2s fit exactly in the width of the rear compartment of a 2720, no room for a battery box. So I just made a tray to go under them and a "L" shaped cover that goes over the batteries and the vent & used a thick black paint on the exposed aluminum.

I have a 2005 2720SL and agree with Padgett's comments -- they fit nicely. I will be painting the exposed aluminum this spring. My tray and "L" shaped cover are made from PVC "wood" (from the house trim department at Lowes).
