Default Oven - Broil setting

We love to use the stove & oven in our (new to us) TM 2619. We noticed a "Broil" setting for the oven - does anyone know how this works ? I know that Broil in my kitchen means an overhead heating element - but I looked in TM oven and could not see anything in the top of the oven. Does anyone know what "Broil" setting does in TM oven ? Thank you !

You slide the broiler pan under the flame to broil. In other words, on the bottom of the oven.

In my blue binder (that came with the TM) with all the factory manuals, there was an order form to buy some sort of broiler pan from Suburban. I've looked under there, and there is not much room between the flame and the bottom of the oven, so it would have to be real thin. I'd be happy to scan/post the order form if you'd like -- I'm not sure you can still buy them though...the order form is 13 years old.

Thanks for the replies. It occurred to me after posting that you put the item underneath the flame. Doh...

I spent about 45 minutes a) searching for the oven manufacturer name (finally found it - Wedgewood), b) searching for Wedgewood owner's manual c) searching the manual for pictures of the oven ('cuz I thought, but couldn't remember for sure, whether there was an "underneath" section in the oven) - no pictures in the owner's manuals that I was able to find.

Thanks again.

That space is so close to the flame that I don't even want to try to use it.

I looked at the order form I have -- it is Suburban part number 520805. It is still listed on Suburban's (Airxcel) website, but there are no pictures. And I couldn't find it online after a brief search. But a quick call to them should turn it up.

Is there an optional broiler pan I can buy?

Yes. Contact your nearest dealer, service center or parts supplier to order a large 2-piece broiler pan, Part No. 520805. Porcelain surfaces in broiler pan are smooth and rounded for easy clean up.
