2001 2720sl

The cabinet ac is shot. Can i replace it with a regular window ac or do i need to get a sleeve unit.

You can replace it with a regular window unit. Look for posts by harveyrv - he had a really good sequence about how to retrofit a window AC into the original opening, and how to add some simple but effective sheet metal baffles to improve the cooling capacity.
