Default Insurance quotes 2010

Well, I officially am a member now. Just joined.

I did locate a used TrailManor 2619 that I am purchasing next week. It is a 2006 for $13,000 (not a bargain I know) I have been calling for insurance quotes and getting much higher rates than I expected for a $13,000 replacement policy with $250 deductible. I was quoted $549 plus another $7.00 for roadside assistance. This seems awfully high for so little coverage. That quote is from GMAC through Camping World. Progressive insurance company was a little higher and my insurance company where I have all my insurance on home, vehicles etc.was about the same as GMAC. The only advantage to GMAC was that you can put a hold on it (the collision part) when you are not using it. Don't know how practical that is, as I live in Florida and don't have weather restrictions here.

Anyone else care to share their "current" insurance costs with me, as the threads that have been previously posted are getting on the older side. Maybe it's higher here because I am in Florida. But come to think about it, don't know if insurance would cover it due to hurricane damage, so not sure if that should be a factor. Any Floridians out there?

I have my '05 2619 insured with State Farm in Central Illinois and with a $2,000 deductible pay $86 a year. We do carry our home, both cars, sailboat, motorcycle and umbrella coverage with S.F. and so get a substantial multiline discount. -camp2canoe

Iím also with State farm and pay $180 a year for full coverage with a $500 deductible on my 2007 3124KS. When the frame on my TM broke due to a road hazard, I showed S.F. a photo of the damage and they said get it fixed and send us the bill. They never looked at the TM. The bill came to over $3,000 and they paid it with in days. Iím not a fan of insurance companyís but I lucked out this time. On some policies your auto insurance covers the TM while towing. Iíd check with your Insurance Co.

2008 2619
Progressive - $120. per year, $1000. deductible.
I think they figure you won't be using it all year in Colorado, so it is a bit cheaper.

We're in LA, and ours is ~$90/year or so w/ a $500 or $1000 deductible (I can't remember) with AAA, as part of our auto policy.

You need to bump up that deductible. In the insurance co's eye, that of course decreases their liability by a few hundred bucks per claim, but even more importantly, it decreases the chance that you'll even file a claim at all.

To avoid premium hikes, I don't think it's good practice to file a claim for losses <$500, and with homeowners/renters policies, even <$1000. And if you subscribe to that practice, there's no reason to have a deductible any lower than $500 or $1000 to take advantage of the lower premium. The premium increase/deductible level relationship is not linear; you pay dearly for low deductibles. And IMHO, if you can afford a $13k toy, you should be using insurance only for catastrophic protection. If you bear more of the risk and take reasonable care to avoid damage, you will likely come out ahead.

I had State Farm for $29 per month with a $100 deductible. same as my cars.

we were very happy with them when they totaled our TM and paid us $2000 over NADA book less deductible pluse tax, title and license fees.

I have absolutely no complaint about the State Farm people and service!

Don't buy a fixed cost replacement policy, you may not be able to find one for what yours cost you, especially if you make improvements or the market changes.

South Floriduh with Geico $293 a Yr. $1,000 deductable. Includes $30 a Yr. for emergency road service, which after having our TM trucked (not towed because it could not roll) for about 80 miles to the nearest shop... priceless!!!

I think you may want to see what replacement cost does to the equation. Mine is an '03 ... now I'm curious to know what i'd get if we had trashed our TM when the bearing went on it.
