Smile Just got one!!! a 2720sl

I just bought a 2001 2720sl from some very nice people in Kennewick, Washington. Going to pick it up this weekend. I got it for $4750 and it is in very good condition. I am getting my Ford Explorer ready tomorrow for towing it. I have the hitch but that is all. I need the brake, power, sleeve, ball, etc. I am paying a professional about $300 for all those above mentioned things. I would just like to know if you think I got a good deal. I think I did, but since I have never been camping in my life I need to know. By the way, the people we bought it from were awesome!!

Congratulations on your new TM.

If it's good condition, that's a very good deal.

Be sure to check the date code on the tires and have the wheel bearings packed before towing it home. If the tires are over 4-years-old, you may want to consider new tires. I would recommend changing over to 15" tires & wheels. This may require a lift kit.

You may want to consider a weight distribution hitch (WDH).

If your professional is wiring the trailer connector on your TV, Ask them to use good #10 wire at least for the +12V pin on the connector. You will not be sorry later.

Default Congrats!

As of this evening, it will be two weeks since I've had my new-to-me 2006 2720SL.

If someone is going to do all that for $300, I think that's not a bad deal since I've had to run around or order all the things I'll need to take it out on a maiden trip (hopefully next weekend). I've been figuring out how things work, cleaning, and modifying like crazy for the past two weeks. Even though I found an incredible deal, I just want everything as perfect as possible. I lucked out and the previous owner delivered to my house the night I purchased it.

I highly suggest that you join the TM Owner's forum. It's the best $12 I've ever spent. You'll get access to a lot more forums and the people on this site are extremely helpful. Trust me, been there, done that and have a wealth of information and are so nice.

Good luck with your new TM!!!

Theresa
