Spray the parts occasionally with Pledge furniture wax. Works great for sticky aluminum ladders.

BTW WD40 is not a lubricant, it is a solvent.

Although used for both WD40 is neither its a Water Dispersant and the 40 comes from the 40th attempt in the development process. And there you have another useless bit of trivia

A water dispersant is a solvent. If it was insoluble it would not disperse water or anything else. My point was people use WD40 to lubricate things, which it does not do well.
