Replacing bathroom exhaust fan - access?
Has anyone replaced the bathroom exhaust fan? On my TM, it is mounted on the back side of the short wall between the toilet and the tub, and it took a hit with a blowout I had a year or so ago. I don't know whether to access it by removing the outside shower, or by removing the plumbing box above the valves for the inside shower. Neither one excites me very much.

Bill, I believe the easiest way is through the outdoor shower. As you know, I have mine out, and actually tightened the screws holding my shower vent fan in place. Heades up, as it appears to simply be a 'heavy duty' computer type fan. 4" X 4" black square fan. Should be an inexpensive part, and with a stubby screwdriver and some busted knuckles, you'll have it done in no time !
I think when I had my thetford pulled (beginning of last summer), there was a small access panel there, but I would start with the outside shower.
Hope this helps.

Thanks. That was kind of the answer I was hoping for, since at some point in the past I removed the plumbing box at the head of the bathroom shower, and it was kinda flimsy.

Bill -
Fourteener is right, best access is through the outdoor shower assembly. I'm not sure you could get it out through the hole on the toilet side.

I don't have an outdoor shower so I don't know what kind of access that gives you, but I've had the converter out multiple times and it appears to give very easy access to that fan. And I can pull the converter out in less than 60 seconds.....4 wood screws and it just slides out, with adequate slack in the wires to easily get your arm in there. I've pulled a few wires through the tunnel under the bathroom floor (as I believe you have as well), and the converter hole is how I get to them on that end.

+1 on the converter, lots of slack in wires, or enough to work with.

I think it depends on where the fan is located. On our trailer the fan sat at the base of the tub on the outside wall. No way was it reachable from the converter end of the tub. But it was right in front of you when the outside shower box was pulled out.

Interesting. On my TM, our bathroom exhaust fan is located in the corner of the inside hall wall and the short tub wall (under the TP holder).
So is yours basically right at the base of the toilet?

Bill,
Mine is located in the back as yours, I took this picture when I pulled my toilet out.
