Default Thermostatic Outlet

It's getting to be the wrong time of year to post this, but we wanted to pass something along. We've found a thermostat that controls an electrical outlet.

DW likes it quiet, very quiet at night. We have a small ceramic heater that works great, but the fan cycles between high and low. We used our oil heater for a while, but found it easy to overheat ourselves with it. It was a turn it up, turn it down situation.

We now have a very light weight floor heater with a fan that I can turn off, but with the thermostat down at floor level, we were still fiddling with it.

We found a Lux WIN100 5-2 Day Programmable Outlet Thermostat on Amazon for <$40 that I plug into the outlet at the refrigerator. We set the thermostat on the heater to maximum and let the WIN100 control the power to the heater. When the temperature hits the desired point it simply shuts the power to the heater off. We let the temperature drop at night and then bring it back up in the morning. Silently. Temperature stays constant throughout the day.

We've used it several trips now and DW is .

I have used this same unit before as well for the same purpose, and have found it works great too.

Interesting, instead of being a timer for turning an item or off. It use temp as the trigger.

Nice, we have a heck of a time adjusting the thermostat of the heater. That looks like the answer.

I like the idea to be able to program a temp drop at night and then warm up in the morning.

Are you thinking of running a space heater or something else?

You wouldn't want to run a space heater off of an inverter. Assuming you could actually run enough power through the inverter, it would suck the batteries dry very quickly.

The clock is powered by button batteries.
I've only used it when connected to shore power so I can't really answer how it works with an inverter. I don't have one.

I've also used that since a friend told me about it!
