Default Almost a fire!

We almost had a disaster. After reading some searches we figured out the problem. Our back bed light must have rubbed on and the light cover privacy curtain and the mattress cover are burned. Thankfully that is all the damage.
We searched for the switch by the bathroom but apparently we do not have one.
But we did have a wonderful trip camping. It. was fun making pizza and also muffins in the oven

You should have a switch between the rear bathroom wall parts, we do. It may be stuck open, though. Stuck open would be pressed down into the bottom part of the wall and not popping up upon folding the rear wall down as it should. The switch is about 4 or 5 inches back from the front of the fold down wall.

Check it out, there may be some debris there that is keeping it from popping it up.

If you can't find the switch, take the light bulb out when you travel.

Thank you for that info. I will have my husband check it out. He said maybe we will disconnect the battery when traveling. But unscrew the bulb could work also.
I noticed you have a 97 tm also. We just love ours.

Don't disconnect the battery when you travel. You are required by law to have emergency brakes that function, and they will only function if the battery is connected, since they use the on-board 12V battery to activate.

The bathroom wall switch is there specifically to prevent this, so I'd definitely get that fixed. It's not just that particular bulb that's affected, but all of the electric on the back shell -- there are 5 lighting fixtures that get cut out.

I bet B&D is right. The switch is there, but the silver button is just not popping up. Others may disagree, but I would shoot around the button with a very quick shot of a Teflon (not silicone) lube such as Dupont Teflon Dry Film MultiUse Lubricant from Lowes (though not home Depot). Work the switch up and down until it moves freely.

The nice thing about this particular lube is that the oily part (the "vehicle") evaporates quite quickly, leaving only the Teflon in place. I think it is great stuff - everyone ought to have a can in the trailer.

One way or another, though, you must prevent this from happening again. But ... you knew that!

My switch would no longer close contacts to provide power to the rear shell. I wedged some card board in on top of the switch to get me through the weekend.

Back at home I went to adjust the depth of the switch and broke it. I could not find one locally, so I bought one from the factory.

A friend told me that it looked like a switch from a Ford. If someone could determine what the switch is from then it would be easy to find a replacement at most any auto parts store.

Reminds me of an older style starter button. Not the floor type but dash mounted. Not necessarily a horn button type. Goes back many years. Engaged while depressed only. Spring loaded back plate.
