Hi all. I read somewhere on the forum that there was a suggestion that other users might be willing to be the "eyes" for someone else. I just came across a 2003 2720sl that is located near Seattle or Tacoma and am unable to view as I am in San Jose. Is there anyone near that area that is willing to check it out to see if it is worth purchasing? What kind of price would it be worth? I was trying to use the NADA site and think it is worth around 11,189... if in excellent condition.... this is what I put based on a conversation.....

Spare Tire and Carrier $70 $85
Window Awning 3' (Each) $70 $90 this was a guess...
TOTAL PRICE $9,245 $11,189
-------------------------------------------------------------
So, does anyone think that an offer of 11,000 is too high for this year?
And, again, would anyone in that area be willing to be my eyes?

This may help a little, I purchased my 2008 2720SL with all the options you mentioned plus both hanging cabinets, microwave cabinet, and swing tongue for 19,100 in excellent condition from a dealer in California. It took 8 months of looking and education to find the right trailer at the right price. Hopefully you'll find the right one soon. Goodluck! It was worth the wait to feel great about the purchase. Think my husband and I saw you in Petaluma? Were you the gentleman and wife that showed us how 2 set up? We had two big dogs with us?

I don't think the NADA guides are reliable. We bought our 1997 2720 six years ago for $8900. Adding six years to our purchase, we'd be buying a 2003 model now. The TM's have gone up a bit, but I'm thinking more along the lines of $9,200. Ours was in excellent condition too, it hardly looked like it had been used.

If you can't find anyone to check it out for you, ask them to send you lots of pictures before you drive all the way up there. However, you must keep in mind that used TM's in excellent condition are hard to find. Are you buying it from a private party? Has it been garaged or has it been sitting out in the Seattle dampness it's whole life? You need to ask some more questions.

We drove to Oregon to buy ours, but my cousin lived there and checked it out for us before we made the trip. Before this, I had gone to Boise to check one out, the guy said it was in really good shape, but it wasn't, and we didn't buy it, but it worked out because on the way home I stopped by my relatives in OR and told them about what we were looking for and my cousin found one on an RV lot in Salem.

We were in Petaluma too, did you stop by and see us? I remember a lot of dog kisses...

B&D--Thanks so much for all the info! I was trying to use the info posted by another seller shown in the central us postings to try to figure out the NADA and probably added too many things. I forgot that she was giving the WDH also...

Thanks for the info on my?,., I used the "What to look for" that was posted and asked all the questions from that and it seemed that her answers were quite good... Still, just want to make certain.
'
As for if we saw you, could be... DH and I had big black lab and tan boxer mix that just loves to give kisses!

B&D & Robertkennel--DH and I had a laugh -- what were the odds that the first two people that would respond would be people that we met at the rally!
Thanks again for the input.

B&D thanks for pointing out my mistake on NADA. That really made sense, but I thought that I needed to add those based on other sellers posts that included those items... Found that you were right, appears it is closer to $9500 based on those figures. I will wait a while to see if anyone knows someone who could look at it for us and then if not ask for more pics and ask if would reduce price. Seller originally wanted $12,750 and thought it was overpriced at that price--depends on how motivated seller is and if she finds someone willing to pay her asking price. If not I will see if she would come down even more (I originally asked if willing 2 sell for $11,000, but will send her NADA and see if she moves lower). It is so nice to have such a wonderful forum to assist us... Thanks again to both, will keep u informed but am going to hold off on the offer for a while...

It's a funny world....we drove all the way to Richland, Wash (from Los Angeles) to buy our TM. It was well worth it because we got a good deal. Our original intent was to buy it, use it for a year or 2 then find a newer one if we were happy with it. Turns out, we're so happy with it, we are going to just keep the one that we have. That allowed us to upgrade our TV instead...

BTW.........did you see this one?

Thanks for the heads up on the 2720 Harveyrv...actually, yes, i wrote seller on Sunday as it was posted on the forum--no reply. Since then we talked about the pros and cons of that model have come to the conclusion that we really wouldn't be happy with the 2720--really want the 2720SL and will hold out for that... If you see a good deal on that--well, I really want it! We are hoping to find one by spring... Oh, yea, also great to hear you were happy with an older model. DH is concerned that we might be buying someone else's problems...Fortunately, I am very handy and can do most plumbing, electric etc. But, it seems that these things last, from what I have been reading...

Wow, why do the dealer prices vary so much? Tons of new listings and I found similar items with as much as $10,000 spread, depending on the state it is sold in! I even saw brand new 2010's selling for less than many used..like this one for $26,499.00 TRAILMANOR 2720SL OPTIONS - AIR CONDITIONER - AWNING - ELECTRIC TONGUE JACK - MIRCOWAVE IN PLACE OF OVEN - HANGING CABINET - MIRCOWAVE BOX W/ DRAWER - STOVE COVER - ALL VINYL FLOOR - WOOD GRAIN - SWING HITCH - ALLOYS WHEELS - BLACK WINDOW FRAMES AND TINT - ULTRALEATHER INTERIOR ... (wish I were closer to midwest) I guess i will just keep my eyes open.

We are still trying to debate if want newer model or savings of older (and the problems that occur with them)... At least we finally decided on the model...LOL.

If you are thinking used, be patient and check the internet everyday. The best deals seems to be as trade-ins to non-trailmanor dealers during Winter. I think they may want to sell for cash rather than holding on to a depreciating trailer that they don't understand or appreciate. I purchased a 08 2720 in January for $15000. Awning had never been opened. Had looked for 3 months.
Good hunting!

I am also in the market for a 2720SL and am located in Washington so looked at the 2003 yesterday. It's okay, but it is showing a bit of wear and tear. I didn't think it was worth the amount they were asking. They would have had to come down quite a bit as it will soon need someone who could go over it and do a little bit of maintenance. It was pouring down rain when they set it up for me and it went up okay, but not great. Guess it depends upon how handy you are and what kind of deal they are willing to make. Let me know if you would like more information, we're holding out for one that's in better shape and hopefully, a better price.

I am very handy and depending on if she would come down enough might still be interested. If you don't mind giving me your number I would like to talk regarding the issues you saw. If she would come down to 9,500 would you think it was worth it? Sending you a pm with my phone number.

I bought my 2003 2720 for about $13K when it was a couple of years old. Basically what you quoted on options which is to say loaded. A friend bought a really clean 2003 2720SL last year from CustomRV for about the same. They have a 2001 2720SL coming up for sale.

They aren't very common like a box trailer or tent trailer so just keep looking unitil you find one. Check the Sacramento dealer too since you are up that way.

Hi Larsdennnert--
Thanks for the info... Already on list with Custom RV and Sacramento dealers--definitely don't want less than 2003--actually DH didn't even want that old, but was willing 2 consider--for the right price--would feel different if was as listed but wasn't.. At least if you pay more 2 get from Dealer you know that it has been detailed and fixed b4. This seller had old tires, stored outside, leak in AC... I NADA gave high as $7800 I added $200 for cabinet which was generous as they only cost $400 new--

Again thanks for the info..

Yea if you buy from a Dealer, they really go through and clean it up, fix little items and make sure there's nothing wrong. I can't say that about used car dealers but RV Dealers really seem to be a completely different breed.

The newer ones have nicer interiors but are fundamentally the same. The older units are well built, though lightweight in some materials. Be prepared with a screw driver to tighten things up. I didn't think I'd like our TM nearly as much as I do.
