Greetings I have a 2011 Trail Manor 2720SL and my anode rod needs changing. How do I purchase a new one? I plan on replacing it myself when I can locate a proper part.

You almost certainly have a Suburban SW6DE water heater, but it is worth confirming before you spend money. You might be able to get a new rod at a big hardware store like HD or Ace, but maybe not. You can certainly get one from Amazon, any RV sales/parts/service place, eTrailer.com or Dyers.com, etc. Around $10 or less.

The unit screws in tightly. You will need a big socket wrench, I think either 15/16 inch or 1-1/16 inch. Better yet, some sources provide a wrench as part of the purchase price.

Best to remove that nut with an impact wrench. A lot of people have a very hard time getting the anode out. They often resort to long breaker bars. The perception is that the anode is "tight". That isn't exactly the case.

The anode nut forms very hard mineral crystals in the threads over time. When the owner tries to remove the anode, the action of turning that nut piles the crystal up against each over and wedge HARD in the threads, making it nearly impossible to move. Using an impact wrench immediately pulverizes the crystals and the anode comes out easily.

Sounds good to me. I now have an impact wrench, and will try it next time I need it.
Thanks for your help with this matter! I am headed back to the father land of trail Manor in South Dakota to have some issues that I can’t take care of myself with end caps. I see on this site some of the folks on this site can actually tangle with a top. Im 78 and I can't do that and I really respect many of the people who share their experience on many issues which helps many of us.
