Not sure if this should go under electrical, solar or perhaps both but having made the decision to bring my 2008 26/19 into the 21st century regarding electrics and adding solar I wanted to know if there is an option for a new compact modern plug and play power control unit that will simply do it all - ie. allow me to have a solar panel input, 12v to 110v inverter, shore power, auto transfer switch and all the necessary bells and whistles in between etc etc.

I've been reading everything I can on this wonderful forum and it seems like my only really option is to upgrade and change out my WFCO power unit with a new modern version and then add individual components under the dinette seating and run my romex down / up and under etc is this really what the factory is also doing on there 2026 brand new units ? Seems a bit archaic considering the development of Lithium batteries and all in one power control modules for new RV, Boats and off grid living.

My goal is to be able to be off grid and power independent for up to a week -
Right now I will be adding 800W of solar (solid glass) either 2 x 400w panels or 4 x 200w panels , and a 5000w Pure sine wave inverter, and when my 2 big 12v AGM 100Ah batteries finally die I'll bite the bullet and upgrade to Lithium.

I have a Honda 2000w generator which I use for the 700w microwave and I might add a roof top AC unit at some point which realize will also need to be generator or shore powered.

Anyway there is no point in reinventing the wheel as plenty of you have already done what I want to do so I'd rather just follow a tried and tested plan and just buy and install what works. The only caveat being tech and electronics change so rapidly these days there might be better options for me to consider .....

I will document , photograph and make some videos of these upgrades so fellow forum members can see what I've done and how I've done it - for future reference.
I appreciate any and all advice.
Cheers all.
