Trailmanor update

Bottom line, I was glad to see the factory and their progress but......had I know in March what I know today, I would NOT have driven over THREE THOUSAND miles (not to mention the original THOUSAND miles to go to TN the first time!) to get these minor issues addressed...To me the slide and open/close are sooo much more important than how it looks (the sidewall rippling is really only noticeable when it's open and the lighting is just right)........At this point, it woulda been better for me to simply assume (two years ago!) that if I own a TM, I will have to learn to do everything that's unique to the TM myself (the only "assistance" will be from posts on this site)......and if something bigger than me comes up..........sell/trade it....??

You have confirmed most of what we already knew, but it's most interesting to hear about your factory "tour". It sounds almost like a startup RV manufacturing company!

As for your decision, I think now would be the time to sell if you are not happy with your unit and/or the service options: Used TM's are flying off the shelf/lot/curb right now at premium prices.

OTOH, and the path I would probably take, maybe you just enjoy it until the wheels fall off a decade from now ... :D

"maybe you just enjoy it until the wheels fall off a decade from now" ...

That is the plan, we DO love the unit and the whole idea behind it, it's just kinda daunting thinking that you've spent big money for something that's not supported by anyone (mfgr or dealer) for a thousand miles......I think I can honestly say that I've NEVER purchased anything NEW with this kind of non-support.........but we're gonna make it work......

"it sounds almost like a startup RV company" --- EXACTLY.....and how long has it been since the move to Nebraska, a year or more? I'm just glad I wasn't waiting on delivery all this time.

BTW, Bob told me that while there should be "hundreds" of units "out there in dealers' inventories" that at this point there are......three.....across the USA.....THREE......and that includes the one RISE prototype (in Wisconsin I think?)

Padgett ---

Maybe this would be a good time to re-offer your services to Bob to help get the Hartington location set up.....

Offered to help last May. Exchanged a few eMails with Cleo on the 11th and 12th and she said that she would tell Bob. Never heard from him.

Make that two, I recently placed a deposit on the only new one I could find besides the RISE.

What did you put a deposit on and where?

I just canceled my order for a 2720QB since I will be purchasing the 2006 I found online. As soon as I told my dealer I was canceling they said that my unit was almost off the line. If anyone is interested in a new 2720QB it will probably be showing up at Custom RV sometime in the near future.

The 2015 2720QD in Ontario, CA I messaged you about. I really wanted a 2922KD but will settle for a queen bed over a king just to have a trailer this summer. It's about 1200 miles away so we'll make a vacation out of the trip. First trip was going to be in that direction anyway.

Nice! Congrats! When do you pick it up? I'm having the one I'm purchasing used delivered there to get inspected and ready for the summer. If I go over before you pick it up let me know and I can check it out for you.

We're leaving here on May 1st and taking our time on the way down. Our PDI is scheduled for the morning of May 5th.

I'm assuming Custom RV is refunding your deposit because you're having your TM shipped there. If you don't mind be asking, how much to ship your TM, (it's in Ohio isn't it?) to Custom RV?

I told Custom RV they can hold onto my ($500) deposit for a little bit since we will be getting the used TM serviced when it gets delivered and just put it towards that.

I set up transport today, haven't signed anything and obviously won't know EXACTLY how much, but they quoted me $1600 to ship from Ohio to CA.

Don't know how long it will take them to do the service on my TM once they get it, but I imagine it will be close to the 5th.

Brad

Looking at the photos you posted your 2006 looks to be in pretty good condition, I hope it works out for you. Please do evaluate my purchase if you get the chance, although it would probably increase my anxiety quite a bit being half way there and learning something wasn't right with it, my 2922 ordeal was enough stress for one year.:)

What is odd is that rvtrader shows Custom RV in Ontario as having a 2015 2720SD they just sold. Are we talking about two different 2720SDs ? (not a common model)..

Make that three different 2720SDs

It's the one in the first link, the 2015 2720QD with the diamond plate on front. I agreed to purchase it several days after my 2922 purchase fell through. I would have rather had the 2922KD but I had patiently waited long enough. We really needed to have a Trailmanor this summer, this was in stock and the only difference was a smaller bed, a king would have been nice but a queen will do.

Yea I just noticed it was white last night, it isn't the best photo and I thought the diamond plate was only on the Silver trail editions. Actually I'm happy discovering it's white after learning they're considerably cooler inside in hot weather.

When we placed our order for our new one we were torn between the silver trail and the white. We ended up ordering the white with black trim for the same reason, cooler in the heat. It was also hard to find a good picture of the silver trail edition, every one we looked at seemed to look different, so we were unsure of the actual color.
