Trailmanor update

I called this morning to check the status of my trailer which is in the process of basically being rebuilt under warranty. My call was answered in 3 rings and the very nice office lady, who I have spoke with many times but I don't recall her name, transferred me over to the plant. I was on hold for less than 10 seconds and I spoke to the new man Bob had told me about earlier this month (over 20 years RV experience) who I believe is in charge of the production line now. I had spoken to him Monday and was told my trailer would be done in a few days. I learned this morning they had just finished repairs and it was in the process of being cleaned. The man in charge said he would call me Tuesday and we agreed on time for that call to go over my lengthy repair list.

Wrong phone #'s?

Is it possible that those with problems are using old phone numbers? Probably not, but possible. Although the website thing is rather concerning.

Well I finally got through today. I was calling because I still need fender skirts for my 3326. They are still on backorder. They said they are getting nervous because they have several trailers about to come off the line that need skirts as well and they have been on backorder for quite some time now...

no return call

I called this morning and left my number and did not get a call back from anyone. This is typical and has happened to me several times when I have tried to call them...especially for parts! :(
Tom :)

I Have a new 2016 2720QB coming in next week to the dealership that I ordered it from! I will post pictures and an update when it comes in. It's there first ever Fiberglass roof they have done as opposed to the Aluminum tops.

One of the advantages of the aluminum/foam sandwich is its insulation quality in a hot Florida sun. Inside stays cool. Wonder what they are putting under the f'glass.

I'm not sure why they switched to fiberglass yet, I did see in a post where an insurance company totaled out a Trailmanor due to hail damage on the Aluminum roof.
but that might not be the reason anyhow.

Jim, I hope your new TM is in tip-top shape when you go to pick it up and no issues. Look forward to hearing more when you pick it up.

Have collected everything electronic I could find, about 550 MB plus another 600 MB on generators. After weeding out is probably a GB.

And then there is all of the information on this site. Perhaps a DVD collection ?

Padgett, there are unfortunately copyright and trademark issues, so we should be wary of putting it on public site without permission, but it will probably be OK for it to be members only for TM owners. I have lots of server space if you need it. Definitely get some copies to others to assure its preservation.

In general, if on the open internet without protection for a certain period works pass into the Public Domain (are criteria for that) but could pay for a lawyers yacht to prove it.

Don't get me started on copyrights and patents stifling innovation or GM lawyers and scanned service manuals (for over a decade they were licensed to clubs whose members had scanned them for posting but that was recently revoked.)

I have both paper and scanned service and parts manuals for my cars plus an enhanced Blue Book in .pdf.

Yes. I am one of the founders of the Open Source movement in software, so obviously I have spent a lot of my life in attempting to reverse this trend. I make my living helping engineers to understand law and lawyers to understand technology.

I really wish that was the case, but it won't happen in our lifetime. Nothing that Trailmanor has done with its web site will cause the loss of the copyright of its content, and the default is "all rights reserved". Nor will the copyright be lost from my book series which you can download for free, or from my software which you can download for free.

These days, you get an automatic copyright as soon as your work is "fixated" (for example, creating a file or writing it down) and since the 1980's it has not been required that you explicitly declare your copyright. The copyright continues for the lifetime of the author plus 95 years, so there is essentially no public domain for modern works.

The two things that most confuse people about intellectual property are generic-ization of trademarks and the doctrine of Laches. Mostly we hear things like "if you don't enforce your copyright, you lose it", while the truth is much more complicated.

Have known it to happen but was mainly when the owner of the copyright wanted it in the PD. (and the opposite is why there are three seconds of "Steamboat Willie" at the start of a Disney movie).

One that gets me the most is when a service manual is blocked from the vehicle owner.

I had a phone conversation with their new production supervisor yesterday so it appears the doors are still open. My guess is they're probably in arrears with their website hosting, still not a good sign.
