Trailer won't latch

When my husband recently pulled out our 2720 2014/15 trailer to going camping he tried to fix our out of balance shells. Reading on forums, he measured and adjusted the lift arms to 39.5. The lift arm measurements were not originally all the same. He measured up into the pocket to the bottom edge of the shell. Now the shells won't latch.
I have attached a picture of where the latch on bottom shell is out of alignment.
We don't know what our next step would be to fix this,

Have you tried latching the door side first. For a single person opening/closing application that is the recommended procedure.

Alignment of the cross-pin as it comes down toward the hook appears correct. But the shell does not appear to be coming down far enough to engage the hook, and the lift arm appears to be a bit above horizontal. Do you have something inside that is too tall, preventing the shell from coming down all the way?
