Too tall for Trailmanor?

My husband and I have been researching various trailers and gone to several RV shows, but I have never seen a TrailManor in person. My husband has dismissed the TrailManor (even though I think it would be perfect for our needs) because he is 6'3" and our son (still growing) is 6". He believes he is just too tall to fit comfortably in the TrailManor, particularly in the bathroom. Has anyone had experience with 6'3"-6'5" people in the TrailManor and where they comfortable? I am interested primarily in the 3124 Series. Thanks.

No issues at 6'3". If you are serious, your best course of action would be to actually examine one. Our opinions here may or may not help you at all!

I'm 6'3" also and am completely comfortable as well. Even the bed is long enough. But like Scott said, go check one out for yourselves!

I just took a tape measure. Standing at the fridge--bare floor to ceiling--exactly 6' 5", this is the front half of the TM. Standing at the stove (in the rear half)--bare floor to ceiling--exactly 6' 3".

Bathroom door entrance, floor to header--5' 7"--so bow to the throne! At 6' 1", I have to keep my knees bent in the shower, typical in smaller RV's. Shower floor to ceiling is exactly 5' 10-1/2", if anybody taller than that can stand up straight in the shower, I'd like to know the trick!

According to the Trail Manor web site, there is a dealer in Hanover, PA (Camping World), more or less 2 hours from you. It might be worth making a day of it (not in today's snowstorm!), but call first to see what they have in stock. Even if they don't have a 3124, I think the interior height of all the folding models is the same.

I am six three and lets just say NOT skinny, just bought a 2619, made a point to step in bathroom and shut the door, fit ok, maybe a little stooped but i was impressed overall. Have not actually been camping yet...

Question to owners - there is a raised section in shower, like a seat, is that for sitting?

You could sit on it, I suppose, but the real reason for it is to make room for the converter/fuse panel, which you can access outside the bathroom on that wall in the hallway. Touch the top of the panel to open the fuse box, and the converter lives below there.

As to height issues...I'm 5'9", so I have no sympathy for those who are taller!! But, for a point of reference, there are more than a few people who have been able to successfully remove the header over the door of the bathroom to make more clearance, without undue negative effect. Just an FYI :)

I always thought that was a seat to make the tub into a jacuzzi hot tub....that's why the walls around the tub are high. :D

I think you will find that the vast majority of travel trailers out there have 6'5" ceilings.

So the Trailmanor is pretty typical.

There are a few upright travel trailers with higher ceilings, close to 7' at least in the centre as they are vaulted. We've been in one, and they do give you a greater sense of spaciousness. But the folding Trailmanors also feel very spacious simply because they have fewer cabinets at eye-level and lots of windows.

It's a personal thing and like everybody else, I say go visit one.

I am 6 foot. My son is 6 foot 4.

Neither of us has a size problem. The shower is tall enough, but it is a little narrow. I have never hit my head except on the bathroom door opening.

Other than to take a shower, DS has no reason to be in the trailer. He is 29 and has his own tent. We eat outside. The TM is mostly for meal prep, cooking, showering and sleeping for DW and I. Otherwise it is empty.

hey brulaz

was that an (award) rv with the vaulted ceiling? i ran across one of them at a drug task force auction, lots of head room, it is or was ,made in canada
was the first one of them i had ever seen.

Award still has a web site, but I'm not sure if they're still making RV's.

The ones with a vaulted ceiling that I've read about are Keystone's Cougar X-Lite and Laredo, and (I think) Dutchmen's Aerolite. The one we looked at was a Laredo. Sure there are more.

That is what i seen, was not sure if they are still in prod. or not,
it was made with a little diff design,
mybe it was more the way it was made that stood out and i remember it had the vaulted one. but after you mention the others , daa i see you are correct.

Wayne,
Glad to see you back on the board. Are you posting on a forum for you new RV. If so post the web site and those who know you can keep up. :)

Prospective buyer

Hi. we are Tom and Judy and are in the process of possibly purchasing a new 2720. My wife is a little skeptical. Up until last year, we had a 1996 Hi-Lo that we towed with our 2001 Toyota Tacoma, V6, 4wd automatic. Only problems we ran into towing it was in the high mountains in Arizona. Chugged a little going up hills. It got totaled last year, so we are "trailerless". What is the general feelings about the Trail Manor line? We would like to know before we make this investment. Also, I am 6'2", 250 pounds. Is the unit roomy? Any information would be greatly appreciated.:new_newbi

Tom, I think you will be pleased with towing the TM. I believe it is about 1,000 lbs lighter than your Hi-Lo. A 2720 has a dry wt of 2720 lbs (add more for AC, other options, and you get around 3,000 lbs, or a little more).

I saw where a 22' Hi-Lo weighed about 4,000 lbs. You didn't say how heavy your Hi-Lo was, so I am just guessing at what you towed. That is a shorter unit, when compared to a 2720 set up. Depending on the model you get (if it's just the two of you, I would go with the 2720SL, but that's just my preference), it may have more than enough room.

I tow a 2417 (dry wt 2150 lbs, tows at 3,300 lbs) with my 3.0L diesel. No problem on hills, or (I'll get slammed for this) maintaining 75 on the highway.

Good luck with your purchase! I think you'll love the unit.

Bathroom door entrance, floor to header--5' 7".

At 6' 1", I have to keep my knees and/or neck bent in the shower.

Shower floor to ceiling is exactly 5' 10-1/2", if anybody taller than that can stand up straight in the shower, I wanna know the trick!
