How much gear can be stored in the unit when it is closed? I would like to see if we can have it ready to go at a moments notice - wildfire evacuations.

There's a lot to unpack with this question.
There's enough space for me, to keep about a 4-8 day stay in my 2619 camper. Toiletries, bedding, water, and some clothes. Minimal food, since I don't keep much to prevent rodents.
This does NOT include any meds, Cpap support items, food or important paperwork/computer items.
Evacuation situations are a different beast; fire and flood seasons are known. They rarely happen at a moments notice, so you could set up a bug out bag, and assemble life supporting/must have meds or equipment items that can be tossed in the tow vehicle at the start of said season.

Perfect. We do have our bug out bins during fire season, it would be nice not to have to move clothes and toiletries. We will have a dodge RAM 1500 so some storage in the bed if needed. Thank you for the reply.

Are you looking or do you have a Trailmanor? It's a great camper and there's a good amount of variables to choose from. I've had a popup, and when looking to upgrade, I didn't want to tow a big brick of a camper. The TM fit my needs perfectly. Good luck with yer future decisions.

We have a set of clothes for 5-days packed in the TM at all times. We have some canned and dried food. Medication etc will go in your "Ditch bag" (that's what mariners call it). Ditch bag is usually partially prepared at all times and meds, etc put in last minute.

We've been evacuated due to wild fires a few times. Each time we learn something new. Problem is, most people only get that 1st time.

We moved to Northern Ca three years ago. No problem the first year, the second year there was a lightning strike on some federal land about 10 miles from our home. The feds would not allow the local FD to help. They put the fire out and left, and it started back up. Instead of the 1500 original acres the restart took another 25,000 acres. Then last summer a lumber mill close to us had some mishap and that sent another fire towards us. We have pets and my elderly mother with us, trying to get out with enough stuff has been pretty hard. We'll do just as you describe, pack clothes and a little bit of food in a TM and off we can go. Ideally we would like a 2518, the sofa one. I don't think we can swing a new one though, so we will see what we can find.

What we carry above standard "camping equipment":
* One set of extra socks and undies (you can always wash em in the sink)
* His and her Jackets
* Med kit with one week of required meds
* At least one propane tank full at all times
* At least one full can of white gas for stove and lanterns
* A small supply of canned food (Make sure they don't have "pop tops" (don't ask why.)

What we keep in the garage for quick getaways:
* 5 5-gallon jugs for water (two are always filled - and rotated every 6 months)
* Enough food for 2 for 7+ Days
* One full 20lb propane tank
* Bin with Tarps, rope, and stakes (Never know when these might come in handy)
* 3 5-gallon cans of gasoline (prepared with Sta-Bil for long-term storage)

And I ALWAYS carry extra supplies in my TV.

If you haven't already considered it, you might carry a 2" ratchet strap that is long enough to go around the entire TM. Hold-down latches have been known to fail, always at the most inconvenient time.

This is fascinating to me. I constantly complain that it takes us FOREVER to get ready to leave and some of you are ready to bug out at a moment’s notice.

We want to be very ready to go. The last fire hit our area 20 minutes after it started. Luckily we saw the smoke and started loading the car immediately. But we have pets, 3 people and just not enough room.

I carry 6 rachet straps in my truck at all times.

We use our 2619 for this also. We live in a WUI (Wildland Urban Interface) area adjacent to the foothills. We keep our Trailmanor in the garage so I keep the batteries charged and basically, prep the trailer for camping after every trip. This means fill up the water tank, propane full, all dry food items restocked and rotated, bedding cleaned, toiletries restocked, trailer mechanically ready to go. It is easy once it becomes a routine. I would recommend packing a duffle for the pets, and any additional persons who normally do not camp with you, and placing it in the trailer when you close it down after camping. If you stay on top of the maintenance of the trailer you should not have to worry about weird failures.
