Does anyone have one of these Slingboxes and have you tried it in the TM as an alternative to Satilite T.V. for boon docking?

This will not work for boondocking. You need an internet connection as you are actually getting the content delivered over an internet connection.

Although we carry a 13" television-dvd combo in our TM, we're not big tv watchers when camping. (Our antenna has been up once in five years.) Last year at a campground near Champaign, Illinois, we saw a camper setting up a VuQube and spoke briefly with him. This device, which has only one connection with your satellite receiver, is self powered and about the size of a basketball. Camping World has a video of this on their website. I was thinking it would be perfect for a TM - you could set it on the roof before raising the upper shell. One concern I had was that the Vu-Qube might blow off the top of the camper but if it didn't blow off our neighbor's roof in the storm that had our TM rocking all that weekend, I wouldn't be all that worried. - camp2canoe

Hey thanks Rumbleweed....my daughter just told me the same thing! Duh! Thanks camp2canoe sounds good I will check it out. Mainly I want the news....and weather..I just got one of the indoor/outdoor thermometers maybe that is all I really need.

I have a Slingbox and I must say it's the coolest gadget I never needed! I travel for work and I can watch my recorded programs anywhere I have Internet access.

I also have a Blackberry that I can hookup to my laptop which gives me Internet access anywhere I have cell service. The image quality can be so-so using the Blackberry for internet access. It's worth the trade-off for me since the Blackberry and the laptop go with me everywhere (I use the laptop for GPS also), and we don't go camping to watch TV anyway.

If you have a decent wi-fi connection you will have a good quality image using Slingbox.

As a bonus, I can watch TV while my wife takes her turn driving!

There are so many full episodes hosted online that you could fill a vacation's free moment easily. Just check out www.cbs.com www.nbc.com www.fox.com and you can even watch stuff in HD for free. Some cable channels are also available online.

I happen to also tether my cell phone for internet access.

Hi, I love my slingbox--I used it on the way home from getting my Trailer and watched stuff that I had recorded. I also got the Slingcatcher so that I can actually hook it up to a TV and get close to HD pictures instead of just using my computer. The problem is that if you don't have a relatively good wi-fi bandwidth (which happens if lots of people are using it in the campsite) you get a choppy picture.. I have considered getting the broadband data plans, but figured that I won't be using it enough to be cost effective, so I will use it when I can.

As for tethering phone --usually it is really to slow to give a good picture with slingbox unless you have a G3 phone with the dataplans which give faster download speeds.
