2010 3023 TM What is your solution for a "screen door" is their one? I've only seen the Magnetic ones as a possible option.

Al -

This is probably more answer than you wanted, but here it is.

As you probably know, I developed and sold a very nice and very well-received TM screen door for about 10 years. It actually became part of the TM Dutch door, and opened and closed with it, just as a real door should. A Forum Search on "screen door" will locate half a dozen threads over the years concerning that door. Unfortunately, COVID killed demand, and I couldn't afford to keep an inventory of materials and finished units, so I closed the workshop shop where I made them. For a number of reasons, I never re-opened it, and at this point in my life, I probably won't.

I have given some consideration to offering the business for sale. A relatively small price would cover all aspects - the things that took me hundreds of hours to create. Sources of material (none of that Home Depot screen kit crap - many have tried to use it and all have failed), detailed instructions for fabricating finished parts, tools required, comprehensive user assembly instructions, packing and shipping, pricing, and so forth. I haven't yet floated this offer, but it may happen.

As for the magnetic hanging screens? Their only advantage is that they are cheap, in all senses of the word. My wife and I had one, and found it to be so annoying to use, and so ineffective against bugs and flapping in the wind, that we stopped putting it up. Eventually I threw it away. Though I had no thought of starting a business, that is actually what motivated me to develop my own TM screen door, and make copies of it for a few people who saw it and liked it. And things went on from there.

So at the bottom line, I have no answer for you. TMs need a screen door, but the TM's folding-body has prevented the factories from offering one. To my knowledge, there is no alternative to a hanging screen.

Bill, searching "screen door" only produces a couple results.

Hmmm. In the green bar in the upper right of the page, I click on Search. I enter "screen door" (no quotes) in the Search box, click Search Titles Only, enter my name Bill in the Member box. Click the green Search button, and it comes up with 11 hits, ranging from 2008 (earliest) to 2023 (newest). If this isn't working for you, we should figure out why. You are not trying to do a Google search, are you?

Sounds like I bought my TM a few years too late. Bummer. Are there pictures somewhere of doors with the screen installed? I looked at a few of the thread hits, but haven't come across a link to a picture, to my knowledge.

I'm just trying to picture how it looks/works.
I've seen one design where you cut/modify the top door hinge to hang the screen, but my TM 2619 has a piano hinge for the front door instead of a standard door hinge.

Attached is a photo of our screen door designed by Bill.
