On Demand Water Heater

My water heater has a control box on the main panel in the trailer. When the heater is turned on and water is running through the box shows the water temp and general heat. Now the box blinks on and off when trying to get hot water. I am wondering if the box needs to be replaced. I have replaced the heater but now seems to have a controller issue. Any thoughts?

What year of TM do ya have and can you post a picture of this control box and main panel? This what my systems monitor panel looks like.

Referring to KidKraz' picture, a company called KIB Systems makes a large number of different RV system panels. TM has used several of them over the years, and his photo shows one that is standard except for the colored buttons. Cute! But what you describe doesn't sound similar to any of them, so his request for a pic of your control box is a first step. Nothing will make sense until we see that.

Do you have a KIB monitor panel? Is your "control box" separate from the panel?

My first guess, based on your quick description, is that a previous owner removed the original water heater and substituted an on-demand propane unit. To confirm or deny my guess, and identify what you have, it would also be helpful to see a picture of the unit itself, and any identifying information on the unit, such as a manufacturer name, model number, nameplates, etc. We will try to help, but that is a first step.

I purchased the TM new. It is a 2023 KD2518
Now I cannot get it to even turn on. Thanks for any help on this.

It appears that you have a Girard Tankless Hot Water Heater RV #GSWH-2 unit. The TM website does not list this as an option on a 2518, but perhaps it was installed as a special order, since the control box appears to be nicely integrated with the other instruments. At any rate, both the Owners Manual and the Operator's Manual are available on the Girard web site, so your best best bet is probably to download them, look through the Troubleshooting section, and start from there. Let us know what you find.

Incidentally, Girard seems to be another company under the Lippert umbrella.

In reading the manual, do you have any error codes on the panel? If not, I would reach out to Girard for some guidance on what to check. There's no reference on just having blinking lights. What troubleshooting steps have you gone thru so far?
