NEWBIE Question: Internal Trim of 2720 SL

Just about ready to take the plunge on a 2008 2720 SL, it is in good condition with all appliances in working order. A couple of things I have notice:

1st is the internal trim in the rear where the back wall and the left wall join, there is a inch gap between the joint pieces and the rear wall upper trim that joins with the corner has additional cocking where the owner tried to put cocking to get it to stay, should I be concerned since the outside appears to have a rock solid seal.

2nd is the seal on the sides of the bed there is just a piece of rubber and plenty of sunlight that comes up through the gaps, the walls have a slight outer bow to them but in is not that bad.

3rd is the rust around the metal trip in the roof vents, there appears to be a good seal, but it may be moisture that collected since they covered year round when not in use.

I'm not quite sure from your description what trim pieces and seals you're referring to; however what you should do to make sure the TM your looking at is weather-tight and all the caulking is in good condition is to open it up and spray the roof & sides with water. Be sure to spray it for a while, then check the interior for leaks.

Depending what type of cover the owners covered it with and where it was stored could be why your seeing rust. A plastic tarp would have trapped condensation under it for long periods of time and if they live in a humid area of the country.

As to the gap on the bed --I also have that issue but have found that using swimming pool noodles eliminates the problem, however I believe that the company now has a new improved type of seal available.

A photo of the gap area where the walls join would help. However, caulking (rather than cocking) is for appearance (gaps are ugly) and for sealing (keep water out), but it is not a structural thing (hold things together). The fact that the outside is solid and tight would seem to say that the structure is solid and the walls are not pulling aprt, which is good news. Assuming this is true, I have no idea what is going on inside. Again, a photo would help.

Good to know the bed gap is a fairly regular issue for this model, I think the swimming noodle idea is great.

Thanks for the photo. I've seen this before - outside of a joint solid and tight, but inside the same joint appearing to pull apart - and I don't know what to make of it. Perhaps the trim itself is shrinking lengthwise, but this seems unlikely or it would show up all over the TM. Or perhaps the trim piece has actually moved, in other word, slid in the direction of its length. I've not had the opportunity to look at the other end of each suspect piece, so I don't know. I would really welcome ideas from other members. Anyone else seen this?
