FINALLY picked up our 2006 2720 from CustomRV today and brought our baby home! Had to make a stop at the DMV to get registered and plates but made it home no problem! Towing it was a breeze (first time towing anything), but I definitely need to practice my backing up skills. More pictures to come tomorrow after we open it up and start cleaning/getting it ready for our first test trip next weekend!

Congrats Brad! I know it's been a long haul but it does look great

One more pic for now. Cleaning the interior so I'll post more photos once we are done. So far everything is in REALLY good condition. Almost looks new!

Here is a list of the work that CustomRV did before we picked it up:

2" Lift Kit
Replaced 14" wheels/tires with new 15" wheels/tires
Replaced brakes and repacked the bearings
Replaced 1x12V battery with 2x6V Interstate batteries
Replaced 20gal freshwater tank with 40gal freshwater tank
When replacing the water tank they found the original water pump wasn't working, so they installed a new water pump.
Adjusted torsion bars and aligned the shells/seals
Graciously replaced all the Velcro and upgraded the Velcro on the walls to the newer "dots"
Installed WDH
Other general inspection/maintenance

They did a great job with the TM and they walked me through how to use everything. Looking forward to testing it out this weekend!

I'll post more pictures once we are done cleaning.

Wonder if there is a market for refurbished and upgraded aluminum TMs if done properly & with full QA. Just a thought.

ps is a 2010 2720SL on CL up in Winter Park and a 2013 2922KB over in Port Orange but I know nothing about them.

Woa...back up a bit...

That's a very clean looking rig you got there and from the sound of it they did a good job getting it fit for fun!

A good rule of thumb about backing up a trailer....is this...when backing up a trailer, what ever direction you want the trailer to go, turn the BOTTOM of the steering wheel in that direction...so if you want the trailer to go to the right, you would turn the bottom of the steering wheel to the right (actually you're turning the steering wheel to the left)...does that make since??
Just a little trick I learned from a good friend who is a marine mechanic who deals with trailers all day.
Tom ;)

Just gave it a wash. Unfortunately can't open it in our carport, so half the rear shell got missed...but boy does she clean up well.

Next weekend I'll be putting on my 250W solar panel on that clean back shell. I'll take pics and document my installation as part of my Solar Install FAQ package.

How are you attaching it?

Next weekend I'll be putting on my 250W solar panel on that clean back shell. I'll take pics and document my installation as part of my Solar Install FAQ package.

When I put my two 100 watt panels on I had some aluminum frames made so I could permanently attach those to the rear shell top and then bolt down the solar panels to those. That way if one went bad I could easily replace it with no hassle. The frames however are secured with 3M VHB double sided tape. It's some strong medicine and they aint a comin up! I got this information about the tape from Will Unrah service manager at The Car Show. He told me that's what they use to put down solar panels on their TMs.
hope this helps
Tom :)

Tom, I plan on using the VHB tape as many have done here with the "Z" brackets. Since the panel is close to 40 lbs I'm going to use 8 brackets to hold it down. Should fill the back shell nicely.

Beautiful camper, someone took great care of this one, looks brand new!!

Pics from our first "real" outing. Rock Creek Lake. Installed a digital thermostat right before the trip and made using the heater much easier for the wifey.

Nice unit, but Brad, please reduce the size of the images. 8+ MB is too large for waiting for them to download. 8"x10" at 96 dpi gives plenty of detail for our purposes. It took over a minute for the first pic to download so I could see the file size.

Thanks

...please reduce the size of the images...

Sorry about that, just got so excited to post the pics I didn't take the time to re-size. Hopefully these are a little bit more manageable. From our trip to Sequoia NP this past weekend.

Finally got my 250W solar panel installed and it worked great. You can't see it in the photos, but I'll add some pics to my Solar Install FAQ post as soon as I have time.

Ken, I specified the QB as I knew the newer models were using that designation. Ours technically is just the 2720 since it has the two beds.

Congrats on your new to you TM!! We love ours......pretty darned 'new to us' too. Your dealership sounds wonderful - the Camping World where we bought ours knew nothing about these.......struggled to open and close it, gave us no help......and did nothing to improve it. Sounds like you got a great TM!!
