New proposed HUD rule

PBI. Yes a financing institution wants a permanent address to make a loan, they have enough trouble collecting from people they can't find. So someone wanting to live in an RV had best have a permanent place of residence even if just a slab on a lot & a PO Box.

This makes sense if seeking a loan to buy an RV, the bank wants stability.

OTOH for the last ten years I was working, I was a telecommuter and it did not really matter where I was to do my job. This meant I did not lose a day or two every week to travel or an hour and a half/day when working locally (also for thutty yar the perception (not without fact) was that I had more/better equipment at home anyway). Did also make it easier to work the core hours: 8 am eastern to 5 pm pacific. Not to mention the 2am panicky calls (my employer was world-wide).

Of course there is also the issue that in case of severe weather an RV can be driven away and is unlikely to be occupied.

But the easy way is to pay cash.

Where will it end? From skimming the proposed rule, looks like park models and some 5th wheels triggered the proposed changes.:new_all_c

Just last weekend a friend (in RV/Marine banking) mentioned this to me.

It's not just the park models because I have seen small TT as full time residences.

Partially the "Patriot Act" and skip-tracing bad debtors, or as the article alludes "bureaucrats."

I will feel sorry for those who are forced to consider full time RV residency, for economic reasons. Their options will be severely limited, if this gets implemented.

They could always just put a GPS/Lojack type device on the RV to be able to track and find you if needed.

I mean what could go wrong with the government tracking you.

Oh wait...

:D

The hard part down here would be the 130 mph wind resistance requirements (park models have tie down straps underneath - and 130 is for Central Florida, coast is more.
