Dear Readers,
We are really interested in buying a Traillmanor but we have never actually seen one except pictures on the internet. We are realizing that if we find one to buy we may have to travel 3 plus hours to look at one for sale. We are wondering if anyone that lives near Cary, NC would be willing to let us look at theirs.

Thanks,

Welcome to the forum! I did a search on craigslist (all the caveats apply; simple search, I don't know the person who is selling it and I'm not endorsing this unit in anyway) There is an older 2002 3023 down in Fayetteville, NC for sale which is not that far from you:

Good luck with your search!

Hi br2_wdc,
Thanks for the search. I'd seen that one and didn't consider it because we're actually looking looking for a model 2720 or slightly smaller. We want to store it in our garage and it's 21 feet. But now that you mention it maybe he wouldn't mind showing us if he already has it set up. At least we could see a Trailmanor in real life. I may give him a call.

Robert,
Wow! Ten hours. Was that your first time buying a TM? What did you do to convince yourself it would be worth the effort? That would've been 20 hours round trip with nothing to show if the TM wasn't up to your standards. I'm just wondering if you had a 3rd party look it over for you or if you made the decision based on pictures, emails, and phone conversations.

All,
My DW, 2 kids and I drove over 3 hours yesterday to look at a 2006 2720SL and we were all very disappointed. The dealer was not at all familiar with TM. It was grungy inside, had a mildew smell, peeling trim on the outside. Seeing it in person I realized it had obviously been stored outside. I could keep going....
Lesson learned. I certainly did not do my homework. Before going I saw a few pictures on the internet and I spoke to a sales person. The pictures looked OK but the grim on the walls just didn't show and there were too few pictures. The sales person said it look pretty nice to her, like the previous owners took pretty good care. I got excited and we took off. Her opinion and my opinion of pretty nice are pretty far apart.
I am glad I was finally able to see one in person and set it up and down. Although that experience would have been better if the technician knew how TMs open and close. He was scratching his head the whole time. They were nice and professional just not knowledgeable.
Sorry if I ramble but we are disheartened. I don't know if we can convince our selves to drive 3-7 hours to look at another one. The TM is really the only travel trailer that completely fits our desires. We are just very concerned that we may drive a long ways to see another one just to be disappointed.

I took a drive from Arizona to Texas approx 1068 miles , I ended up not buying it. I figured I spent time and some gas money but I saved myself from buying something that just was not up to my liking and then I would be mad at myself for that purchase. I was told it was in really good shape except for some hail damage on the roof. It turned out that the bathroom cabinet was turning green at the bottom edge My guess from pee on the floor. Plus other things not mentioned , then when we tried to close it, it really did not close properly etc... So Yeah, it was kind of hard to drive home with nothing, but so glad I did. as I found a TM a few weeks after I got back home that was 8 yrs newer and only 40 miles away. for the same price. But It was a fun road trip.
