Gasoline prices and vacations . . .

I've heard that it's already gone to fist fights in the southeast on another board I frequent. People have reported gas stations asking customers to limit themselves to a 10 gallon maximum, voluntarily, and many stations out of gas.

Our gas dropped about 8 cents today.

I don't know how it will be here a few days from now when fuel starts being diverted to areas where it is more badly needed.

I started carpooling with a nice lady about 3 weeks ago, 2 days a week. I wanted to cut my gas consumption ;) and it's worked out really well for both of us. I figure if there's less demand, the prices will go down. Eventually we'll go to alternative fuels. Honda is coming out with a new Insight hybrid priced at about 18.5K in the spring of '09 http://automobiles.honda.com/insight-hybrid/. They're also bringing out a new hydrogen fuel cell vehicle...I can't wait until we can get them in our area. http://automobiles.honda.com/fcx-clarity/

It didn't go up in Houston yet...maybe folks just weren't out changing the signs yesterday :)

Very early to see what happened to refineries, but from what I have been able to gather this wasn't so much of a wind storm as a flood event...hopefully the chemical plants were not adversely affected too much. I heard the Gulf platforms were not really hit.
