Karen, my other half was in kinda a horrible accident, she caught her pj bottoms in the buddy heater in our basement and is about to undergo skin graft surgery tomorrow, don't mean to bum anyone out, she's in good spirits, and we'll be ok. I've not been around in a while, just taking a break, then this happens, love all of you guys, we'll be ok, and you all take care.......

Bill,

We're very sorry to hear about Karen's misfortune. Teddy and I both wish her a speedy, uncomplicated recovery.

My personal phobia (extra caution) is O2 dependent combustible fuels in a home. Even have electric radiant heating in my house and removed my wood stove. Not rational, but .............can't help it.

Bill,

Please add our sentiments for you and Karen during her procedures and recovery. Having watched a family member deal with a burn accident, we know they can be painful and drawn-out. Hope hers goes well.

Wayne and Diane

I'm very sorry to hear this. May God speed her recovery and grant you both peace.

I'm joining all the others in praying that all goes well with you Karen. God is an awesome God and healing is one of His best attributes.
Our prayers are with you both. Bill we know it is very very hard to see a love one suffer and not be able to relieve the suffering.

Hi Bill...

We've never met you or Karen before (or anyone else since we're fairly new on this board) but we're so sorry to hear of this unfortunate accident. :'(

Our prayers and positive thoughts are with you guys all the way!

Happy-
More prayers for a full and speedy and complete recovery.

I can't understand the whole of what happened, but my mom tells about when she had a similar incident with a robe and electric stove. Her sister put out the flames with orange juice (acidic). She's fine today.

Peace and happiness to both of you.

Bill,
Know that Judy & I will be praying, as are many others. We don't always understand why things happen, but our God is an awesome God who will bring about good things from this event. We pray that you and Karen will trust Him.

Bill and Karen,

We are all in your corner. When you have the time, please update us.

God Bless

Thanks so much to the all of you. I have just returned from the UVA Burn Unit, (About 2-2.5 hours away from home), where I spent the night there. I had a lot of trouble getting out of town with this and that, then my truck started overheating and had to turn around and borrow a car my dad has extra we use for deliveries. But I finally got there at around 2pm, just after she had left her room to go get prepped for surgury. Needless to say the surgury went well, and she spent hours in the recovery room, again, with me being unable to visit with her.....Till I finally got to see her at 5 till 9pm. She was very happy to see me, tho very doped up and in and out. I stayed with her for about 15 mins, then set out for my motel room for the night. I got up early, and visited with her again, she was a lot better off and felt MUCH better than she did the night before. I fed her some of her grilled chicken sandwich, and some chocolate pudding, but she wasn't that hungry. I had to leave for a bit so they could do some stuff, so I walked down to this little curio store and got her a black leather jacket with tassles, she REALLY loved it! (It was a kinca cute type jacket, not something like a hood would wear). Of course I brought her cards, balloons, candy, cashew nuts, and other stuff like that, as well as a teddy bear from me. Anyway, if any of you ever met her in real life, you'd know she's a fighter, and bounces back really quickly. Anyway, I'll know more later and post more on her condition as she heals.........

Our thoughts are also with you -

Prayers and good thoughts for a quick recovery. Burns hurt so badly!

Hopefully the black leather jacket & treats will make her feel (kind of) better. It's always good to have a devoted loved one around to help make sure that you get the best possible care in the hospital. It's hard to be that far away from home....

Little kids have flame-proof pj's, they should make them for adults.

Take care and blessings to you both.

Hope your truck situation works out as well.

Well, I spoke with her today, she was lucid, and spirits high. They had taken out all of her IV's except her morphine IV. She was in a good mood, and to talk to her, you'd not even know anything had happened to her. She said her arms have stopped hurting....Something nobody knew since she wasn't burned on her arms, I think it was the IV's in her. And she also said her legs didn't hurt as much. Anyway, you all take care.....

Happytrails.......

Thanks for the update. Sounds bad.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to you and your wife!
Hang in there! Sounds like she's in good hands and under good care!
Take care of yourself right now as she's going to need you when she gets home.

Bill, I haven't been reading this forum's messages for several weeks and was surprised to read about your wife's accident. My wife and I wish her a speedy recovery. Having done a lot of skin grafting myself in the past, I am confident that she will recover rapidly and be as good as new in a few weeks.

Bill,
Glad to hear that things are going well. Our prayers with her as have been. Sounds like things are on track.
