I am trying to send my email address to a member using private message, but an error occurs that will not allow my message to post. It says I have to be a trusted member. I have been a member for years!
Can someone help me here?

Ed -

Have you been a member under the same user name? A minor change in username might confuse the anti-spam intercept system into thinking you are a new member.

Have you tried faking the email address by (for example) substituting the word " at " for the @ sign, or the word " dot " for the dot symbol?

Bill,

I have not changed my username in any way, nor have I tried a workaround for the problem. I guess my question is "How does one become a trusted user?"

The better question to ask is why the option to list an email address in "Contact Info" as part of my member user name is no longer available. At some point, after the sale of the forum, my email address was removed from my "Concact Info".

Don't feel bad...... they removed my user name from the membership file (after I made over 8,000 posts.

But weren’t you idle for like 10 years?
Ya, I was but when I contacted the web manager, I was told that it was impossible. They said that they have NEVER removed any members.

I wasn't exactly "idle" either. I posted for a couple years after selling my TM in 2012 and often logged on just to check out what was going on or to see if I could help anyone with anything.

There are some filters in place to prevent spam in Private messages. Currently members with fewer than 10 posts can't put links (including e-mail) in Pms.
The reason for this is that now that the forum is more active, a favorite trick of spammers is to spam via PM. It's hard to stop because we can't see it...

Unfortunately it's an inconvenience for members - double edge sword.

It looks as though old accounts were sometimes removed in the past leaving the posts but orphaning them with no associated account. I've found about 2000 of your old posts restored them to your current account. Some improvement ;)

That was very thoughtful of you. Thanks. I hope that it wasn’t a hassle.
