As many people have commented, one normally needs to replace the rotted wood fill strip at the ends of the roof. Do NOT use 5/4” pressure treated (PT) wood to replace the old wood. Turns out the copper salts in residential PT lumber will corrode the aluminum skin. Replacement choices seem to be poplar, marine plywood, plastic trim, etc.
