Very interesting development. TM has learned a lot from their long experience with the folding models, incorporating good things and eliminating or modifying problematic ones. I am particularly impressed that the TM16 has a DRY BATH, as well as a permanently made up bed. Both of those are unheard of in a small upright, and a wet bath or a Murphy bed would be a complete turn-off for me. I think the floor plan is actually pretty good, too, although obviously not spacious.

The preliminary specs say "35 gallon black and gray holding tank". I think it is against code (and common sense) to have a single tank serve both purposes, and I doubt that it has two 35-gallon tanks. So I am thinking this is probably a simple typo, and was supposed to say "xx gallon black tank and 35 gallon gray tank". Don't know for sure.

To me, the bigger issue is that it is TM's move into an RV niche that has suddenly become very popular. The Foldable market may be limited, but a lot of small upright camper manufacturers have learned important lessons from foldable TMs. I am glad to see that TM is staying in the small camper pack with the TM16. I fully expect (but have no info) that the TM16 will be a learning tool, and that TM will introduce somewhat larger versions if it is successful.

I had the same thought on the black & gray tanks and asked for clarification. They are in fact two separate 35 gallon tanks!

When is ETA on the market?

This model looks ideal for a senior couple. Ahemmm…;)

It does bring the issue of the “back side sleeper” to mind
When having to crawl over the front sleeper for a toilet visit.

Maybe a gymnastic ring could be suspended as an assist…

Looking forward to seeing it! :)

The idea of a 16-17' trailer that has these features - permanent bed and dinette, dry bath -- isn't all that unusual. Scamp and Casita are good examples of this sort of package, and they've been around for years.

I remember the trailer my parents had in the 70's. It had a bunk above where the double bed is, and the dinette along the side would convert into another bed. That configuration was able to sleep 5 easily. True, as a 5 year old, sleeping a the back of the "double" bunk behind the older brother was lots of fun, if you get my sarcasm. In wonder if TM would consider such a configuration?

No way that makes any sense. a 30G fresh water tank and 70G of waste water? I don't think so,

Our 24' TM Elkmont has a 40G fresh water, 25G Gray water and a 15G black water.

I wish that they would install a mini-split A/C unit instead of that crappy 13.5K roof A/C.

Seems sort of odd that there is only 1, 120V outlet and it is mounted outside. It lists all of the interior outlets as 12V.

That brochure is a mess. It lists A/C as standard equipment then lists the height with and without A/C. Specs state 1, 20# propane tank with an automatic change-over (change-over to what?). It also lists the trailer as 90" wide in the specs but 74" wide in the drawing.

I just want to clarify once again that the TM16 does in fact have a 35 gallon gray tank AND a 35 gallon black tank. Yes it’s way more total capacity than the 30 gallon fresh tank. But this has been verified with the factory.

If I had to guess, they would be mounted underneath the camper.

But seriously look at the size of the great tank on a classic folding TM. It’s not like it takes up a huge footprint. There’s no torsion bars going across the bottom, and the spare is mounted to the bumper. The only other thing taking up any real estate is the leaf springs and axle, which I would imagine aren’t exactly huge either.

Why is the large waste capacity so unbelievable? My 3326 has a fresh water capacity of 20 gallons and holds 35 gallons of gray water. Why would it ever ever need such a large waste water capacity when it only holds 20 gallons? Because some people actually use the city water hookup but don’t have an immediate sewer connection. That extra capacity comes in handy in such cases.

I filled my "35G waste tank with a 5G bucket once, just to see what it actually holds. It took 5 buckets but I'm lousy with math.:p

I just can't wait until one comes to California. ;)

Well........ you made a believer out of me. :giggle:

They did a far superior job of mounting those tanks then was done on the Elkmonts.

I sure hope they put support straps across the middle of those tanks.;)
