Cold water replumbing

Hello all!

I just purchased my TM from my parents who were using it without connecting to the water or electric out at a 4 wheeler camp ground. A friend is going to be staying in it in my yard until they have more permanent housing. When we plugged in the hose to the back of the trailer, it started leaking a lot at the junctions around the water heater. This isn't super surprising since it hasn't had water running through in at least the last 7 years.

Does anybody have suggestions for a simple fix for the plumbing. I'm thinking pex run from the hose inlet to the kitchen sink and bathroom sink. ....just so my friend has some running water to brush teeth, ect. This is all very new to me, so I'm sorry if this is an easy fix or if there's answers already in this forum. I just found it tonight!

She will have access to the house, so this isn't an emergency, but rather just trying to make life more comfortable and convenient.

Thanks!
Melissa

The problem is that the pipes are not particularly easy to get at. If you truly want only a small amount of water for drinking, brushing teeth, washing hands, etc, how about setting a 5-gallon or 10-gallon plastic container, with a simple built-in spigot, on a kitchen counter with the spout hanging over the sink? They are available almost anywhere. WalMart has a couple of them for around $15-$20 - the two in the pix below are both 5-gallons, but 10-gallon units are also common.

Don't forget that if you run water down the drains, and the drain plumbing is also leaky, you might end up with water all over the floor. Better check that out first.

Besides the jugs Bill suggested. If you're looking for a very easy work around, get a largeish water kettle. A sun shower bag, fill it with the hot water, and mix with cold to get it to a decent temp. You can wash/shower yerself or was the dishes in the kitchen. I used this type of set up when tent camping so many years ago. Keep in mind the opening on the bags are not that big, so the kettle would be a bit easier to fill with hot water.
Here's another new to me option on Amzn.

It is unlikely that the piping is bad, certainly possible, but not likely. I'd start by removing the water heater as that is where you say the leaking connectors are. If you are not interested in replacing it at this time you can cap off the hot water out. The connectors are the weak links in the pex system whenever there is a freeze as they are hard and crack. The piping itself can expand a bit without rupturing.

These are all pex connectors and there are tons of options for installing them. My local RV place has connectors that don't require any special tools to install, although I make it a bit easier with a heat gun and their $5 plastic wrench tool. Once you have the connectors replaced you can simply put a cover over the water heater hole until such time as you decide to replace it.

I can't remember how the plumbing runs but you might get away with just capping off the cold too, at that point.

Good luck.

Can you get a picture, or better yet, a video of the water leak? If it is just the connectors it is a very easy fix.
