Has anybody mounted a black water holding tank under a 3124? Wondering if there is room to install one ? Surely it has been tried . Thx

I'm not sure about a black water tank, but I remember reading about some one who replumbed the blackwater drain to make a loop around the grey water tank, effectively doubling or tripling the capacity for the recirculating toilet. Presumably, the recirculating toilet was used normally (drain valve under the toilet closed) until it reached capacity. Then it was emptied into 4" ABS drain pipe. The toilet valve would then be closed again and allowed to be used again until reached capacity.

Also, some people did not actually charge the toilet but instead used the shower to "flush" until the toilet reached the charge level. This trick alone could extend dry camping time by a few days depending on how many are using it. Given how long it takes to charge the toilet with the shower (several minutes of the shower spraying into the toilet), I imagine you could go a long time. I would try this technique before considering a black water tank. I would still add the chemical and add little water at first. As long as you're doing #1's, you wouldn't need to use much or any flush water.

I don't think my wife would approve of this method, so we always go where there are hookups.

We also use the "extended" method for toilet flushing. We don't charge the tank. We don't put any tissue in the Thetford (it goes in the garbage and is emptied daily) and it doesn't require any flushing (we never use it for #2).

I remember the posts about the extended tank but it's a complicated process. If I can remember the key words I'll post a link.
