A tire observation

With all the talk we have had here in the forums about different tires, I made an observation today. I was at a local boat and rv show, and started looking at what all the other brands of travel trailers used for tires.

What stood out in my mind, was that Goodyear Marathons were NOT on the majority of the different brands of TT's I looked at. There were Power Kings, Duro's, Loadstar's, and Nankangs on a lot of trailers. A few did have Goodyear Marathons (but just a few), and I didn't observe any with Carlisles.

I also saw one trailer with mud grip tires on it. I just laughed that one off and figured the dealer must have just put something on it to move it to the show.

This was just an easy observation, with all the different travel trailer companies being close together.. I don't know if other trailer companies are having problems with any tire brands, or are trying to keep costs down by using these particular tire name brands.

Wayne, I looked at many tires/trailers. The bigger trailers (40 feet) and such had 16 inch LT tires, which was to be expected. One huge one had 3 axles and 16 inch ST tires. Of course that baby was $80,000. (similar to the one below)

Most of what I tried to look at was the trailers ranging anywhere between 22 and 36 feet. As far as weight of the trailers, I didn't really look at that. In these trailers, the overall majority were running either 205/75-15 or 225/75-15 inch ST tires. I only saw 14 inch ST tires on a couple of trailers. Even the small trailers in other brands ran 15 inch tires, but that also is to be expected, since these trailers are heavier than Trailmanors.
