My wife and I are considering purchasing a 2013 Trailmanor 3124KS. We found one for sale at $9,900. It has cosmetic damage to the exterior paint (tarp rubbed on it while stored on the side of the house) but everything else is in good working order.

Is this a reasonable price to pay assuming the condition is as advertised?
J.D. Power has low retail listed at $5,350 and average retail listed at $6,400.

My tow vehicle is a low mileage (57,500) 2014 Ford F-150 Super Cab STX w/ 5.0L V-8. It has the towing package and trailer brake controller.

If this works out, it will be our first Trailmanor. Discovering this owner forum has been a wealth of knowledge and education. Thank you all for that.

Looking forward to being part of the community.

Hey Scott and Michelle,

My husband and I bought our first RV and TrailManor just last month. We do not have any buyers remorse. We have the 2025 2518KS and LOVE it! We cannot believe how much space is in side. We pull it with a Ford Edge SUV. (3,500 tow capacity)

Go for it!

I find Blue book-type valuation guides don't provide a realistic guide to what the market usually demands for Trailmanors. So you really should just browse what's available as close to 2013 as you can get get an idea of what things are worth. There typically isn't even much variation between models, especially as you get to older units. I haven't looked at the market in a few years, and inflation has gone up significantly in that time, but my not-current sense is that $10k for a 2013 seems like it would probably be a pretty good price. Or at the very least, certainly within the ballpark. Also note that prices on the west coast are typically a bit more than the east.

You don't show any pictures of the paint, but if it's really just some paint having rubbed off in a relatively small area, I wouldn't expect that to effect the value much.

Shrimpburrito is dead-on.

If you can get a 3124KS at that price, in good condition, it's a steal. The key is "Good condition" and you need to inspect things like the frame, grey tank, tires (DOT date should be less than 5-years-old).

I've purchased a lot of trailers and I always figure in installing new (good quality) tires, brakes, emergency brake switch and wheel bearing service as part of the purchase price, over and above what I pay the seller.

I find myself in agreement with Dave. To my surprise, in the last 5 years or so, prices for vehicles in general, both tow vehicles and camping trailers including TMs, seem to have soared. This has happened to new unit prices (MSRP) and consequently to used units. I stopped looking at valuation sites because they didn't seem to reflect what I saw happening in the marketplace. Your best approach may be to be patient, watch the market yourself, and make a move when you see the right unit. As Wavery points put, overall condition seems to be the important factor, so let your needs dictate there.

As for the paint, if it is worn all the way down to the aluminum skin, you will probably want to address it. If it is more superficial, your own preferences will dictate. The original paint was Valspar Krystal Kote, and there is a short article about it in the Forum's Technical Library. It is pretty rugged stuff.

Thank you everyone for your responses.

We ended up passing on the TM. It had been in an accident and was no longer opening / closing as it should. This resulted to interior wear along the walls and ceiling and a door that wouldn't close without some muscle. It had original tires on it which was a red flag for me. It needed a new seal between the roof line.

I agree that the Nada guides / JW Power valuations do not reflect current market conditions. Everything we have seen in person so far has been in poor condition. It has proven difficult to look at photos and determine what condition the trailer is in.

I will take your advice, be patient and strike when the scenario is right. We are looking for a KS model in the 31 or 29' models. Call me crazy but I like the dual axle pop up campers too.

Update: Scott and I picked up our new-to-us 2005 Trailmanor 3124KS last weekend! She is in good shape for 20 years old. Giving her a deep clean. Needs new floor, new king mattress and redo the couch (get rid of old smelly upholstry). I love this forum...such helpful information.
