Default anyone ever stay at Glacier Park Lodge?

Has anyone stayed at Glacier Park Lodge, just outside the Glacier National Park in Montana?

I'm planning a trip for some relatives -- they are taking the Empire Builder on Amtrak, which stops right in front of the hotel. The hotel also supposedly has a rental car agency on site, which is a nice plus.

The idea of staying at a National Park Lodge, especially one that is right next to the train stop and has a rental car pickup, is attractive, but the reviews on Trip Advisor are not particularly complimentary.

There are a number of other places in the area that have higher ratings and are half the price. I know to take customer reviews with a grain of salt, but when nearly half of the ~90 reviews say the place is "poor" and "terrible", that's a bit beyond saying the place is small, dated, or lacking in amenities like 100-channel cable.

Does anyone have first hand knowledge of this place? They'd be staying there 3 nights.

Thanks,
Dave

When we were at Glacier, we stayed in the TM. But we took the opportunity to stomp through the hotel, and to take high tea (my wife is big on all things British) in the dining room. From that limited experience, it was a gorgeous place to be.

FWIW, the Lake McDonald Lodge looked even better - but again, we only visited and did not check in.
