Labor day weekend 2008, when the GMC had 1,000 miles on it, we lost one of two keys, and could see the other inside on the floor.

I was going to call AAA, which would likely take an hour or so, but my nephew pointed out that I had OnStar for free for a year. So he called them on a cell phone (lucky we had service) and after answering several questions to convince them I was the legal owner of the truck, they unlocked it remotely for me.

After that is when I created my two full sets of keys.

Sometimes I am 30 miles from the nearest locksmith. I am updating my equipment so that in future camping trips I will sometimes be 30 miles from the nearest paved road. I need to improve self sufficiency.

On the other hand, if I am 30 miles from the nearest paved road, why bother locking it. There ain't no one else around.

Red face Locked doors

Don't think that you are paranoid, just don't lock both sets in the car at the same time as happened to us. Ken was working on something under the dash and curious, mechanically inclined grandson was watching intently. Ken finished and closed the door. That's when we realized that grandson had been leaning on the door lock and very effficiently locked ingniton keys and extras (in my purse ) in the car. We were at Pulltite CG on the Current River. Able to find the CG host who had a means of communication (phones don't work there) and located a locksmith in Emminence, MO who came to our rescue. My husband teases me, but I 'wear' my keys around my neck on a chain. Only need to remember to put them there. Have fun camping. Olga

So, way back when I started this I said all that was left on our to do list was for Gene and our son to adjust the brakes . . . Surprise! That turned into a journey.

Bottom line, thanks to Bill (once again) for the wonderful advice of throwing our Voyager brake control in the trash and replacing it with the Prodigy. The swap was a piece of cake and the Prodigy worked perfectly as soon as we pulled out of the driveway.

Seriously doing the countdown now!

I'll betcha a Pepsi that you'll end up with more mods before you get home......heck, that's half the fun of owning an RV.
