Default How Hot Is It?

It has been at or near 100º for over a week now, which is a bit unusual for north Georgia, even in the summer. Couple the temps with typical humidity, and you have weather that makes you want to stay indoors! It had been 7 years since the last 100º day according to the TV news.

My big dog has taken to sleeping directly in front of the air conditioning vent to keep cool these days! I might have to join him

It's not been too bad here in N. California... actually been quite mild as far as summer heat goes this year. We are in the mid to upper 80's this week. The heat has been terrible in the midwest and south this year, especially uncomforbable with the humidity! Bless you for keeping your dog indoors where it's cool... I feel for those animals and people who don't have AC!

I cancelled a couple of weekend remote camping trips in the Nat'l forest a few days before heading out earlier this summer. It was near 100 and there are no hookups. I thought it'd be fun to try some boondocking this year, but I guess we're all just too spoiled. I only lost about $22.00 to cancel, but around here, if you don't make reservations ahead, may as well forget camping! Hopefully it won't be so hot next weekend (not looking too bad so far) because we've got a trip scheduled at Sugar Pine Reservoir right on the water... elev about 5000 feet.

Here in Petaluma CA we've been whining that it's only getting to the 70's and it is often foggy til 9 or 10 am. We had a hot spell in May and that's it. Nature is our AC.

This morning before it got too hot, I took both dogs to the nearby doggy park. Normally the dog park is one of their favorite places - they like socializing with the other canines and their owners. Well today was a different story. They were both ready to leave after 10-15 minutes - I'm betting it was the heat!

Yes, I do envy you west coasters - send some of that cool weather this away!!!

I was born here (SF Bay) by accident and stay on purpose.

I refuse to live anyplace where it is normal for the humidity to exceed the temperature.

It is presently 78 degrees, 39 percent humidity, visibility 10 miles.

There are only three things wrong here:

1. short camping season, March through October.
2. too many people
3. cost of living is high

I always like the following bumper stickers:

Welcome to California, Now Go Home.
Welcome to California, Financing Available.

On a typical weekend in the winter, where else can you go snow skiing on Saturday and surfing or SCUBA diving on Sunday?

And to all of you that think that California does not have four seasons like other places do, we just have different seasons:
wildfire, flood, earthquake, drought.

I take my dog to the park at 6:00 am to advoid the heat. It's been in the 100 degree range here in Kentucky for two weeks or more. Speaking of losing a deposit, I recently lost a $147.27 deposit to the Rapid City, S.D. KOA because I cancelled almost a week before time to go. During special rally's, etc. they have a strick no refund policy. I'll know better next time!
