The mirror into the future. . .

OK, this is really off-topic and silly, but has anyone else noticed that the bathroom mirror makes you look much older?

Perhaps it's the lighting or the mirror itself, but it makes every wrinkle in your face much more noticable. DB has commented on this, too, so we call it "the mirror to the future" and try to look at it as little as possible.

Maybe I should just say that it makes me look wiser and be glad about it.

I noticed it really is good for applying makeup. Maybe its because when I look in it I notice I need makeup more. Anyway, yes, its bright from both the flourscent light and the filtered light coming in from the bathroom window.
In my own house none of the mirrors are located that close to a light source nor am I able to get that close to the mirror, except my lighted makeup mirror, and I think the TM light/mirror is brighter than it is.

The passage of time is what made me look older.

Having once studied cosmetology, I can attest to the fact that if you have a unit with florescent lighting, the lighting is what is making you "age". Most people don't look good in the green light cast by florescent bulbs, so it's not the camper but the light in the bath that's the problem.

I have a deep olive complexion and I avoid the greenish florescent lighting for make up application whenever possible. I end up looking overdone or clowinish (not that the lighting is totally responsible) ;-} The best bet is a hand held or propable mirror and to sit at the table to apply your war paint. That way the lighting is natural and you'll look less made-up.
