Default Feedback on Plan to Fix Gray Water Tank Leak

I just noticed there’s gray water dripping from the joint that connects the flange for the dump pipe. After looking through related posts, it looks like folks have had success using ABS shavings mixed with ABS cement or MEK to repair similar leaks (example link: https://www.trailmanorowners.com/for...ad.php?t=17564).

My plan is to:

1. Dump the tank and let it thoroughly dry.
2. Clean the joint/leak area thoroughly with rubbing alcohol.
3. Make a think paste of ABS shavings & ABS cement.
4. Apply it to the joint/leak with a small paint brush.
5. Repeat steps 4 & 5 multiple times.

Does anyone have any feedback or ideas on a better plan?

Thanks!

All you need is this from Home Depot… Drain the tank then let it run dry overnight. Drill a small hole at the ends of the crack to keep it from spreading. Clean the area around the injury with acetone (nail polish remover worked), this will also soften the plastic slightly. Mix the plastic weld. Brush it on thick, use the whole tube. I also did a second tube the next night. My flange was cracked 2/3 of the way around, and it hasn’t leaked a drop. Note: This epoxy smells AWFUL and it gets HOT when mixed. Wear gloves, and do the repair outside.

Shane: Thanks so much for the insight and suggestion. I will definitely consider this approach. I appreciate your response.

Bill: Will do. I’ve learned a great deal from this forum and would be happy to share anything that might be helpful.

Default Follow Up

Quick (but tardy) follow up. I took the approach of using a slurry of ABS shavings and ABS cement. It looks like folks have used various approaches successfully, but from what I could find, the ABS slurry seemed to be the one that had the greatest chance of success. I completed the repair back in August following the steps in my original post using 6 coats of slurry. Just had a chance to test it today following a 1,200 mile tow from Texas to Florida (with the tank empty). I filled the tank to capacity and let it sit for several hours and there are no leaks. I’m hoping it continues to hold and will post an update in the event it fails.

Thanks again for the feedback.
