I actually think it might not be. It seems pretty thin and might flex with the torque of the bikes bouncing up and down going down the road. The comment about the Yakima bike rack breaking will give you some idea of the forces going on. My bike receiver is a factory piece that bolts to the frame. It's a much heavier piece of metal. I'm not expert on this, but maybe some others with experience can chime in on this.

I see. Perhaps I'll weld in some reinforcement. Does the rust under that bumper cover not concern you? I mention it because I just removed the bumper cover and pan below and treated the rust and repainted. It looks to be an area that rusts easily given the outer covering.

Thanks for your input.

Are you talking about the square tube storage box on the bumper? I don't have that style but I wouldn't mount anything on that. TrailManor makes a rear receiver that mounts to the frame and any decent trailer repair shop should be able to set you up with a receiver as well.

Hey Paul, the stock TM bumper is too thin to use for a hitch, you will have problems with that . I used an adjustable receiver hitch, I cut out the thin metal tube in between the frames and installed this, welded and bolted to each side of the Frame itself and it is up higher so no dragging with nothing and can carry a cargo carrier fully loaded and no problems not even in handling , I do use a WDH.
