Question Roof mounted

I have a beloved 2002 Trailmanor 2619 that has an AC located next to the oven. I live in blazing hot South Texas could use both space and increased cooling and I am considering a roof mounted AC unit. I have one powered vent on the roof and would like replace it with a roof mounted unit. What weight, support issues, unit size and considerations do I need to plan for with this installation. Thanks for your advice. Rex

Rex, the first step is to get the weight of your intended replacement unit. Once the weight is in-hand, call TrailManor, and ask if they have torsion bars for your unit that will lift the additional weight. They should, as there are various sizes of bars available. You will, most likely, have to replace the bars on the shell that you mount the AC to (assume you will mount on front shell).

You will have to run wires, and the factory may be able to offer the best way to route the wires.

Have fun with this project!

Thanks I am beginning to wonder just how big of a project this is and who I could farm it out too. I will look for a really low weight unit. Thanks Rex

Be aware that the internal AC is in the shade and the roof unit will be in the sun. Have lived in Texas before and the sun can be brutal.

Lightbulb split ac unit

I saw a photo of a trailer with a duct-less split AC unit with the compressor mounted on the front of the tongue and the evaporator was mounted inside. You would need extra long hoses but there would not be any noticeable weight added to you front shell. I can't remember if it was on a TM or not, but who knows, you could be the first.

It's too big a project to be worthwhile. The side-mount air conditioner loses you some storage, but I bet it's quieter than the top-mount Coleman I have.

Default Or.....

you could just sell yours and get another one that has AC...and maybe a bigger one at that! That would be the easiest way to do it...other than moving to Alaska!
