Default Hello OC Family

Wondered what you finally decided to do and how it worked for you. We too are looking for that special TM and have located one 2200 miles away. Had wanted to fly there and, once sure its worth the $$, rent a pickup or SUV and bring it back. Not really interested in a 500 mile R/T just to find out it was sold the day before or not worth the sale. Still looking, but have been unable to find any rental place that will rent me a tow vehicle other than a moving van. Hope you nailed your TM and the trip went well, let us know how it worked.
Thanks

Hi Chipper, the TM was delivered to us yesterday. It needs a good cleaning both inside and outside. I haven't had too much time to test everything yet, but I plan on getting it registered in CA then take it to the local dealership to have them service since anything they find deficient, I can get it reimbursed from the Maryland dealership. But so far, it looks good, no damages, leaks, or anything that I can see.

Hope you find yours soon!!

We are also in Southern CA were in a similar situation as OC Family. We found a TM 1500 miles away. We talked a lot to the dealer, looked at the pictures in great detail, and they did a video for us. We put down a refundable deposit. That way we could walk away if we didn't like the way it looked in person. We had one dealer that told us the unit on his lot wasn't worth the drive. I don't think you'll find a rental place that will rent you a tow vehicle. We tried several years ago and didn't have any luck.

Any updates? I am interested in hearing how this unit turned out because you may have timed your purchase just right: it appears used TM's are in big time demand right now, and good clean TM's are selling quickly and getting a premium price.

So it is possible by buying when you did, you saved yourself quite a bit of money on a relatively newer unit, even with shipment costs from the East Coast factored in, depending on the condition it arrived in, of course.

I can second that motion as they are becoming pricey as I was approached by my neighbor a few doors down and offered me 13k cash for my 2008 2720SD and he knows I paid 3600 bucks for it from a dealer. Part of me says sell then the other part of me says keep it you know what you have and it all works. So if anyone is interested I say keep a close Eye on Craigslist like check every hour if you can. Good Luck

Hi everyone,

Delivery of the TM went well. It was delivered within 4 days for $2450. I took it to Custom RV for service and they found some minor issues, the biggest thing was a dead battery and worn out bag outter bag seal, they also recommended re sealing the vents and fan, the big items are estimated at $500, the minor issues I've been slowly taking care of it.

Matter of fact, we are currently at Crystal Cove State Park on on shake down trip. It tows great except I made a mistake yesterday and couldn't go up a hill and had to get a tow truck, luckily no damage to the tm or tv.

For those asking if buying used is worth it. In my opinion yes, I've always been ok with buying either used cars and other things. We had a budget of $10k and buying locally or new is just tough, you have to wait and be patience if any inventory comes up, it does but gotta check everyday, the other day I saw a los Angeles craigslist had a 2007 2720 for 6300 but that lasted a day. We bought out of state because we felt it was a deal even with shipping and minor repairs. I asked custom rv how much they would sell my unit for and they said over 20k for 2010 and up.

So far all the major appliances work, no leaks, awning is good shape, it has ac, swing tongue, ds screen door, all the optical cabinets, the microwave stove combo is great even though we originally wanted an oven combo.

I love crystal cove , I am heading out that way in a week. Where is this hill that required a tow truck? can you elaborate more on this and how you could not make it up the hill? was it because of the TM etc...

Craig,

I was coming from the 133 and was supposed to take PCH to crystal cove but because of some traffic on PCH, the gps routed me through the neighborhood in laguna hills off of acacia and cliff and I misjudged and thought my tv could handle it but got stuck near the top and backing down was too dangerous with my family on board that's why we called tow truck.

Crystal cove is beautiful my family especially the kids love it here.

I absolutely love my TrailManor. But I could get a 300% return on investment (in less than a year, no less) I would have a hard time saying no!

That's the only draw back to Cali is the traffic. Glad you got out of the sticky situation. Between Crystal Cove and Thornton Broome I like Thornton better as you are on the ocean more less. but no electric. But walking under the highway to the ocean is not bad either so toss up I guess LOL
