Since we travel so much we don't carry a lot of cash and use only two credit cards. Over time they will expire and we had one do so last month. We knew a replacement would be in the mail so had the neighbor watching for it.
We also stopped using it. The replacement never showed up. Called the card company and were told we should have gotten it Feb 20; so it was canceled. A new is being sent and should be here this week. Called about the other card which expires next month and asked to have it's replacement sent early.
Bad idea it was cancled while DW was in town grocery shopping
. Called back and got a supervisor and asked why it was canceled before we got the new one. Response..... it was listed as stolen/missing. I explained what was going on in detail. Answer: oh! we're sorry it should not have been canceled. We will get you new ones by Friday and explain to the one who handled your call the correct way it should have been done.
So you might want to wait on new ones if yours are about to expire before you leave on a trip.
Note: before a trip we always call and let them where we will be traveling and about how long. Some places have a high theft rate I guess, Dallus/Ft Worth, and ours have been refused if the credit card company didn't know we were going to be there. That last is good security but a bit of pita if you forget to call first.
