Here is our cat, last summer in Utah. He likes his perch by the dinette.

This is our pack, both saved from a shelter.

My friend Mary does pet portraits and does a great job in my opinion I had her do mine. Feel free to contact her if you would like a pet portrait. Her FB page

We have 2 dogs; a boxer named Ariel and a neo mastiff named Nala. Ariel would be an awesome camping companion. She is quiet, calm while indoors, and loves everyone. Nala is the exact opposite. She barks full volume at everything and anything, she never relaxes, and she is a nasty junkyard dog towards strangers (but she's a big marshmallow to her people). Can't take Ariel and leave Nala home or Nala completely freaks out...

Oh and we have a cat, too. Incredibly sweet and friendly, loves to lay in your lap and purr. Beautiful orange male named Pinkin. We adopted him a couple years ago. My son has since become ridiculously allergic so the cat is confined to the basement. Been trying to find a home for him. Anyone want an awesome cat?

Question What do you do with your cat?

Does anyone ever take their cat with them when they go places? If so, I need to know some things about that. What do you do about the cat box? Where does your cat sleep? Where do you put their food and water where it is not in the way? How do you handle your cat going outside? Stuff like this.
Thanks
TC

Thomas, I assume you are now asking about trips away from camp, as you posed it differently than your first question (which I answered as it pertains to myself in Post #40).

When we take our cat on a day trip away from camp, we take his litter box (it has a handle on top), and food and water. He doesn't eat, but will drink. I jut put water into the bowl while we are parked, and if he wants to drink, he will. He will use the litter box whenever he wishes.

When we leave the car, I put his harness on him, and a leash (okay, a rope about 12' long). Sometimes he wants to walk and explore, but if there are other people around, he wants to be in my arms. I never have him outside, anywhere, without his harness and rope.

While at camp, he wears his harness inside, as we will take him outside when we are not cooking, etc. His harness has a large bell on it, so if he darts out the door when we open it (has not happened, yet), we would be able to hear him better (small bell on his collar that the DW can hear, but I can't). When we are inside for the night, the harness is removed.

Hope this helps. We don't see it as any problem to take him when we go camping, or do trips away from camp. Makes the trailer a bit more like home, having him with us.

Thumbs up Thanks for the reply...but..

... when you are in your trailer, what or where do you do/put the litter box? Where does he like to sleep? Where does he like his food and water? Do you have a special kind of water bowl that won't spill while driving?

We put the litter box between our chest of drawers and the dinette slideout. Since we have the 2417 KD, we have almost the least floorspace of any model. The 2417 KB has less floor space, but the rest have more.

While travelling, we don't have water in a bowl, as we stop every few hours, put water in the bowl while fueling or using the rest area, and he does fine. In the trailer, we put his food/water bowl combo under my coat rack, so it is out of our way, but he can get to it. Could even put it on the shelf by the front window, as there is plenty of room up there (until DW puts lots of extra stuff up there).

He will sleep somewhere in the trailer, or on us, which is what he does at home. He will curl up next to my legs, or between them if I am on my stomach or back. He is quite comfortable in the trailer, as we have been taking him for all 4 years of his life.
