Re:For those that know me......
Bill,
I think you're an old "softy" for getting her that leather jacket.
Glad to hear that Karsn is healing and doing well. After all, eventually, she has to help set up your trailer for next season!

Re:For those that know me......
Sorry for taking so long to reply, things have been kinda sketchy with me to say the least, needless to say. Thank you all for your kind words and prayers. She did have to undergo a second skin graft surgery last friday, but has healed up nicely already, and is OUT of the hospital! She's in the physical therapy treatment center now getting back use of her legs and all from where she laid in bed for 20 days, but is coming along real nice. I went up there again wed, and stayed till yesterday where I helped move her things for her to the new place she's at now. She's in real good spirits, and already suprising the staff there. They told us yesterday it would be 3-7 days hopefully, and she'll finally be home! It's hard to believe it's been three weeks since it all happened. I'll just be happy when she finally comes home!

Re:For those that know me......
Happy, that is very good news! We will continue to pray for you both. I know this is a very hard time for you both, maybe harder for you than her. Nothing hurts more than having a loved one you feel you can do nothing to help. But trust me, just your being there helps her more than you could ever know. Hang in there guy, things will get better for you both.

Re:For those that know me......
Well guys, Karen FINALLY came home last tuesday! She is healing amazingly well all things considered. One skin graft on her right hip was larger than the area that can be covered by most people's hands has healed to the point you cannot even tell the area was skin grafted, as well as some of her other grafts as well. At UVA, they had been giving her shots to thin her blood to prevent blood clots, and when she was about to get out, they were really concenred since she had been spending most of her time in the bed that she would really need them here at home, lol, but since she's been home, she's been moving around all over the place! She had a physical theropist stop by today and his jaw dropped when she just got outta bed and walked very quickly down the hall to the stairs where she went down a few then right back up like it wasn't anything at all. We have to go back up there this monday to let the plastic surgeons take another look at her, but so far so good. She's just very happy to be back home for sure. She's not in much pain at all anymore, and even doesn't always need her pain medications for her dressing changes. (Something of which she prefers not to do as it makes her groggy the whole rest of the day). At any rate, she's doing extrordinarily well, and will be back to her usual self pretty soon.

Re:For those that know me......
Sorry, it's been quite a while since I've been to the board but I thought I'd give you all a quick update. Karen is *finally* completely out of the woods. About a month after she came home, the doctors told her she would not need the leg brace on her left leg which had the skin graft behind her knee. Well, her leg started stiffening up to the point where she couldn't bend or straighten her knee. The doctors said they may have to do *another* skin graft behind her knee. However, before they did anything they gave us a prescription for physical theropy here in my hometown. She had been doing REALLY well with it, and last monday her plastic surgeons said they would NOT have to do another skin graft! She is now at the point where she has almost complete range of motion in her left leg! She will have to wear her compression stockings for a year, but she's really good about wearing them. (I'm sure a few in this crowd have had to wear them, and know how uncomfortable they are). But she is completely healed up now as far as not having to wear any more bandages, etc. At any rate, she's coming along really good! Looks like we'll be going camping really soon!
