That's why we did it, too. Never liked the design of the curtains dragging through the dirt and dust on the outside of the shell, not to mention being in the sun to get faded. I'm much happier with my removable rods.

We live with mold here in Florida. I have not seen it on the closed shells so far. On the top, plenty. Black mold that is very hard to remove.
Closing wet will also stain the curtains, which is why many buyers see them. I guess we did have some mold on our old curtains. We now use removable rods with our curtains, I take them down and lay them on the couch and bed before closing up.
How did you design the removable curtains. I already want to do this and am looking for ideas.
