Even with upgraded 15" Maxxis tires rated at 2150lbs on my TM, I'm running the driver's side tire at about 90% capacity (1900lbs) if I'm hauling 26 gallons of water. But at least now I can do it if I need to!
Which tires would you get today if you could pick for a new 3124?

I would choose an "E" load tire and keep them inflated at 70 lbs minimum. I have "D" load tires on my 2720 and keep them at 60 lbs.

I'm running Carlisle "E" rated tires with inflation of 65+ psi. Rotate or in this case swap side to side, once per year minimum. 3-1/2 years on this set with no issues.

Cool Toyota Highlander

Hi,
We are looking at 2417 & 2720 to pull w a new Highlander. We are 2 newbies to camping and 2 small dogs. We are NOT handy and are looking for a comfortable yet dependable camper... we thought Scamp or Airstream but won't fit in our garage / pop ups or Aliners were eliminated so the TM seems like best choice for us...any thoughts?

Glory, lots of thoughts here. The 2417 is shorter than the 2720. Regardless of the floorplan you choose, the 2720 will have 3 feet more space between the ends. To us, it doesn't matter (we have the 2417KD). We don't have dogs, though. Dogs need someplace to lie down.

The 2720 is about 600 lbs heavier (dry weight) than the 2417, so that may make a difference with your tow vehicle.

The 2417 has a king bed, while the 2720 has a queen. We sleep end-to-end in our 2417, not side-to-side. When we had our popup, we slept side-to-side, and I had to crawl over the wife to get out of bed. Inconvenient.

You need to consider how you will be camping, and if the 2417 will be enough floor space for you and the dogs. If not, and your tow vehicle can pull a loaded 2720 (about 4200 lbs, loaded), you may want to up-size to the 2720.

Good luck!

Thanks! Yes LOTs to think about and you are right about the space. We are already thinking of how comfortable the dogs (20lbs only) will be in the trailer. Can you say SPOILED . We will be looking at the units during the 4th of Juky weekend, exciting
Pls y'all keep recommendations coming

To insure that you are not disappointed after your purchase, carefully search the tow vehicle of this forum for info on actual towing weights. Do not go by the published weights as the disclaimer states that they are without options and normal camping equipment.

Lot of info on this forum. Use the search feature and take your time. Kinda like the old saying measure twice-cut once. Well it pays to read a lot and buy once, unless buying RV's is a hobby. Some people travel light some not so much, styles vary and so do TV's.
Good luck.

With a tongue weight of about 500lbs on my TM2619 and a tongue weight limit on my F150 of 500lbs without a WDH, I wanted to decrease the 2.5" squat of the rear of my F150 when the TM is hooked up. Since my TM2619 has a 3500lb axle, I didn't want to use a WDH to distribute any more weight to that axle. So I installed an Airlift RideControl adjustable airspring.

Now the rear of my F150 only squats 1" when the TM is hooked up.

Every TV is different. My 2720 (next size up from 2619) has a 460 lbs tongue weight and do not want to add any more load on the TM axle so do not use a WDH. Have not noticed much squat but I do have the factory towing package. Have a set of AirLifts but never bothered to install.

Am tempted to order a 5k axle clocked a little higher since do not want a lift kit but suspect I already have more invested and more custom equipment in my '06 2720SL than sane.

Given a free shot, I'd rather have a 2922KS for the king bed anyway but are not many around.
