Default Cold Front

The cold front hit Montana hard. 3 - 4 inches of snow first of week and today was minus 7 for the high and tonight will be minus 27 and about the same for tomorrow. It is cold and not expected to be above zero till at least Monday. Camping is just a dream at this point, so many months to wait. Ah well this to shall pass (in about 5 months).

North of Dallas and hunkered down at Lake Tawakoni Thousand Trails. It is raining heavily and they expect icy conditions. Staying here two more days and heading to Lake Whitney for a couple days hoping to miss the next storm. Trying to get through Texas heading west. What am I thinking, I live in Florida, but want to get to the Rose Bowl.

We're in Vicksburg, MS headed to FT Worth in the am. Unless the tires are frozen to the pavement. Real light sprinkles through MS today. From Laurel(lunch stop) MS to Vicksburg the temps dropped 40 degrees.
We like Lk Tawakoni SP. Left the TM home as Rocky Creek at LK Benbrooke is closed until April.

You are hardy that's for sure.

We were at Lake Whitney over Thanksgiving. Lots of deer. Good for bike riding (flat roads). Full hookup sites have no lakeview but other loops have great lake views.

The next cold front is coming thru So Cal tonight. Forecast for San Diego (& Pasadena) is for mid to upper 30's lows and upper 40's highs through Sunday.
It's suppose to warm back up next week with low 60's highs

By the time you get here John, the weather should be great. My folks use to stay at the Thousand Trails in both Palm Desert and Wilderness Lakes. They liked both parks but, come to think of it, that was 25 years ago..

You guys are funny and great. Anyway, we are hoping to get out of here tomorrow and head to Lake Whitney. Dogs like the time here, they get our full attention, but really spoiled. Running low on bologna, so got to get to Walmart tomorrow. Did try something new. Put up a blanket between the bathroom door open and other end attached to the wardrobe and put space heater on the bed side of the TM. Kept the heat in on the bed side all night. Did not turn on the furnace, just used electric blanket and space heater which kept us quite cozy all night. Got down to 22 last night. Today, I moved space heater on other side and it is keeping the living area warmer with less heat needed. That is what happens when you have nothing else to do. We do have the satellite dish going. Going back to Harry Bosch, Michael Connelly series of books. My favorite.

From the turn off on I-20, by Terrell, to where you were camped at John it took us 4 1/2 hours to get to Ft Worth. Usually do the trip in an hour. Only went broad side once; After that I put the truck in four wheel drive and that stopped the back end from trying to trade places with the front end. Bridges and over passes were the worse where you had a 4 inch build up and maybe a 1/2 inch of ice in the rut bottom. The sand they put down turned to frozen mud. Saw a lot of vehicles in the guard rails and ditches. Also saw 18 wheelers in the middle of the interstate not moving, just the drive wheels spinning. They are saying it will be Monday at the earliest before it clears up.

We made it late afternoon around 4 pm. Over 4 hours from Thousand Trails Lake Tawakoni to Thousand Trails Lake Whitney. Nail bitter some of the way and stopped in the middle of interstate once due to accident in front of us. 136 miles. WE stopped at Walmart in Hillsboro and are settled and rested. Tomorrow we leave for Monahan Sandhill State Park. Hope roads are ok. We have reservations for a couple days there.
